No kidding. Did you hear Rep. Anchia of Dallas telling Rep. Sheets that if he wanted to open carry in Dallas he should go lobby Dallas city council? Dirtbag.
Point of order overruled again. Martinez-Fischer immediately back at it with complaint about strict enforcement of a vote.
6 minutes break in the House. No point of order raised by Martinez-Fischer on vote. Just requested future votes all be strict enforcement (presumably hoping someone will screw up and open a POO complaint).
Rep. Stickland offered a Constitutional Carry amendment to this bill; but the amendment was ruled non-germane. Stickland wanted to get it on record who opposes constitutional carry. The Speaker, clearly, did not want that.
So Stickland is now trying to get the whole discussion about it on record and in public.
No, Bonnen wouldn't be up there if he was hostile to Open Carry. Stickland's stunt wasn't helpful. If the Reps vote FOR Constitutional Carry amendment now then HB910 is different from SB17 and it goes to a conference committee for more possible shenanigans and less time to pass all the hurdles.
If the Reps vote against the CC amendment, then they run the risk of being branded anti-gun by the OCT crowd even though they are trying to get some form of open carry. He basically set up a situation where we're going to see collateral damage amongst our own no matter what.
Thanks for the clarification. And I thought Strickland had a better understanding of the Legislative process than he apparently has. He seems to have shot us in the foot. (so to speak)
