I was just looking at a Taurus 605 with a 3" barrel. Looked like a quality little gun. I liked it's size and feel. I was wondering if anyone had any experience and opinions of it, pro or con? Thanks.

Just got rid of my one and only Taurus revolver - did not hold up and several attempts at spring replacement or repair made no difference. Good ridance and looking for a S&W or Ruger to replace it.

I carry my 2" 605 daily. Lots of rounds through it and have never had any problems.

I don't have a 605, but I do have a 905 Taurus....no problems at all.
It shoots just as accurate and just as flawless as my S&W revovler.

I had one and it was ok, I discovered the hard way the firing pin return spring will not take a lot of dry firing.

If you don't plan to pocket carry, the SP-101 is another great option for $100 more or so.

I had one, and it was a good gun. I sold it to a friend who still has it, and has never had a problem. That said, I've had enough problems with Taurus since, to write them off as a trusted carry piece.

I have owned a 3" blue 605 for a few years. I have found it to be an accurate and flexible little .357 Mag. It has been a great little backpacking and day hiking, carry gun. I have fired everything between .38 Spl LWC to 158 gr JHP full power .357 Mags in it without any any complaints.

The DA trigger is a bit heavier, but not at all unmanageable. I shoot it DA only as I find I shoot it more accurately that way. The trigger can be staged, and I think that is the trick to shooting it DA.

Presently if is wearing Taurus over-sized wood grips which I find quite comfortable with all but the heaviest loads. For those heavy .357 loads I would recommend 3 groove wood combat grips.

I have a 3" 605 and love it. Reliable and accurate; fun with 38s. I do not fire 200 rounds of hot 357 a week, and I wouldn't with a Smith J or K frame, either, if I expected one to last. After heaven knows how many revolvers I have owned from all the manufacturers, the only two DA revolvers I have left are the Taurus 605 and a Taurus 431 .44 Special. I still have a bunch of Ruger Single Actions to play with and satisfy my urge to shake the ground.

Oops, better be fair here. I have Wolff or predecessor aftermarket springs in all my revolvers. I have had them in all my Smiths, Colts, Rugers, Rossis, Tauruses, and Cimarrons that anyone made aftermarket springs for as far back as I can remember. I find they increase my enjoyment of shooting. I think it made a big improvement in feel on my 605. Less so on the 431. I would encourage you to do what makes you happy, too.

I have mixed emotions on the 605

I own two taurus revolvers. Both are 605s. The blued model I got for my wife, and it works flawlessly. Worked so well that I ordered a SS model for myself. It went back to Taurus for cylinder lock-up and failures to extract. I won't bash because I believe all manufacturers of all products have things that slip through the cracks. How their service department responds, and how the product comes back will make up my mind. Will post in future on the outcome.

Our 2 605's have been perfect. I carry mine almost daily. Has 600 to 1000 rounds of mostly 38 plinkers through it.

I have a 2" 650 in SS that I carry every day. Shoot thousands of rounds through it with no problems but a sore hand. Replaced factory grips with Hogue and I like them alot.
