I have a 3" 605 and love it. Reliable and accurate; fun with 38s. I do not fire 200 rounds of hot 357 a week, and I wouldn't with a Smith J or K frame, either, if I expected one to last. After heaven knows how many revolvers I have owned from all the manufacturers, the only two DA revolvers I have left are the Taurus 605 and a Taurus 431 .44 Special. I still have a bunch of Ruger Single Actions to play with and satisfy my urge to shake the ground.
Oops, better be fair here. I have Wolff or predecessor aftermarket springs in all my revolvers. I have had them in all my Smiths, Colts, Rugers, Rossis, Tauruses, and Cimarrons that anyone made aftermarket springs for as far back as I can remember. I find they increase my enjoyment of shooting. I think it made a big improvement in feel on my 605. Less so on the 431. I would encourage you to do what makes you happy, too.
