Opinions on Walther P99 9mm.

If someone put a gun to my head and made me buy a plastic pistol, it'd be a P-99. Good ergos, good trigger, feature-laden... What's not to like?

For me, one of the defining characteristics of the P99 is the short and crisp trigger reset, and that's available only on the standard (SA/DA), now called the AS (Anti-Stress), version. The QA version has a Glock-like trigger that is constant from the first shot to the last. For the AS version, a simply 1cm retraction of the slide is all that is necessary to take it from DA mode into SA mode.

I just got my Titanium coated P99 9mm DA/SA from CDNN for $500 with shipping and transfer fees included.

I love this gun. It took me about 200 rounds before I was starting to group well with it. It has the shortest reset of any gun I've ever fired. There is no reason to get the QA when the DA/SA is already great.

Anyway, it's light, it fits like a glove, and is accurate. I've read that it takes about 500 rounds to break the trigger in, but it never bothered me in the first place, so take that for what it's worth.

It has been completely problem free with the 3 different types of ammo I've shot out of it.

For it's size, it's my favorite 9mm.

Nice gun. Feels and shoots 'heavier' than it is, i.e. with my normal grip it seems to allow me to handle recoil better. Mag release is annoying. As lunde said the original, with the long first trigger pull is the best I think. A very good gun. Check out the S&W version to.

i too have the original DA/SA trigger and the re=set is really amazing.

i really like the walther mag release and the way it blends into the trigger guard. the de-cock is out of the way while being very accessable to the off-hand.

the only thing i'm thinking about is having the slide re-finished to maych the OD frame.

P99 (GLOCK type, new ambi controls) issued by some German LE unit

""Die Dienstpistole P 99 DAO der Carl Walther GmbH war der klare Favorit im Ausschreibungsverfahren der Bundeszollverwaltung sowie der Polizei NRW: Rund 50.000 Stück mit einem Auftragsvolumen von 15 Millionen werden voraussichtlich ab April 2005 in Dienst gestellt ""

I own one and carry it quite regularly. I really like the gun. As far as high-cap 9mms go, it is probably my favorite along with the G19. The ergos are great on the gun, plus the aforementioned trigger reset is quite nice.

The P99 question has been posted in this thread forum recently. Check it out for other opinions. Mine is a keeper.

As far as a 9mm goes, it's a fine pistol. Light weight, sleek. I bought it new at the beginning of the year. It took around 200 rounds to get it going well. It's a great trainging gun and if you have small hands, it'll fit very well in your hand. And, it's the gun that my girlfriend uses when she comes to the range with me.

But, after a couple of months, I got really bored with it. Now, with the exception of when my g-friend uses it, it just sits there. I hate 9mm! It's not even worth reloading it. I believe that it also comes in .40 caliber. In my opinion, if I had a chance to do it all over again, I would go with the .40 over a 9mm any day.

Shooting a 9mm for me is like shooting a bb gun.
Unless I can feel the sweet sting of recoil in my hand, unless everyone around me ears starts ringing, I don't want to shoot it.

Just my 2 cents.

My friend, you just made a wise decision.
If I had a chance to do it all over again, I would have ordered the exact same one that you did.
