I want to add one of these to my collection and I'm torn between which one. On paper they are very similar. The Beretta I've shot and liked, but I've never had an opportunity to shoot the CZ75. I'm also thinking I might, might mind you, want stainless steel. This will be in 9mm and because they are beautiful I'll add wood grips at some point. This will be for range and collection only. No thought of it as a CCW.

Please give me any advise as to which way I should lean...Beretta or CZ. Both are fine pistols I'm sure, but is there a trait or feature that makes one more desirable than the other?

If you can find a range where you can try (rent) both pistols DO IT! Your handling and shooting each is the best way to find "your best " choice.
I've never shot a 92, but the CZ Compact PCR that I owned was the best fitting, most accurate, easiest to shoot gun I've ever owned with a hammer.

I own both. (Beretta 92FS, Beretta 92 Steel I SA, Beretta 92 Vertec Inox, Beretta 92SB Compact Type M, CZ75 Stainless)

The CZ has a slightly better DA trigger, and I prefer the fact that it's all steel (versus the alloy frame of the Beretta). Also, the CZ fits my hand a little better than the Beretta 92FS. The Beretta is a tad bit easier to take down, but both are easy. Both are reliable and accurate, though my CZ has had a few FTFs, whereas my Berettas have never had a hiccup. I prefer the safety/decocker of the Beretta over the cocked and locked aspect of the CZ, but many feel otherwise.

Both have their strengths, and diehard fans/advocates, but the good news is it's likely that you won't be disappointed with either.

I own a beretta 92 and am very happy with the way it shoots. The sights could be a little better though.

They're both good guns. Try both if you are able. However, I was never sold on the Beretta's action and size, so I've chosen CZ's and BHP's to mainly fill this niche.

I have years of experience with both pistols as police and hi-risk security/protective handguns.

The CZ75 fits me better than the bulkier Beretta, but some would
prefer the hammer drop safety.

Accuracy and reliablity are top notch in both pistols, the Cee-Zed just feels better to me.

For a target gun, i'd go for the CZ75 SA model over the Beretta.

Superbly accurate 9mm and .40 caliber CZs!

Not sure why anyone needs to be "sold" on the beretta action. It's not new...well proven design on the P38 walther...greater accuracy potential than any browning type barrel lock up pistol.

I have both. I like both.

They are both accurate and reliable.

I'd pick the CZ-75B over the Beretta because it's STEEL slide and frame and has better ergonomics.

There are a lot of Cee Zed fans out there. Having fallen for the CZ-75 PCR, I can see where they're coming from.

But the Beretta works, it shoots just as light as the Cee Zed, yet doesn't tug down your pants like the steel frame.

i 'could' scream CZ!

but instead i'll say to shoot both and decide for yourself... or at least fondle them over the counter and see what's easier to operate for you. should be pretty close, but my vote goes CZ. :)

cz is awesome and ill end it at that.

anything russian is usually built like a brick S#$% house and designed to withstand pretty much everything you can throw at them (while still working the whole time)

beretta isnt a bad gun though either... i personally would go with a locked breach system over the beretta 92

the more tumultuous the history of a country, usually the better the guns are. they had to make good guns or die trying, literally.

I have both. Both are excellent pistols.

The CZ fits smaller-to-average hands much better than the Beretta. The Beretta fills a large hand better.

The Beretta has a decocker safety. The CZ requires a manual decock if you want to carry hammer-down and shoot the first shot DA. However, the CZ in turn has a traditional manual safety that allows you to carry cocked-n-locked.

MecGar magazines are available for both and work well; both mags can be had for less than $25/each.

The fixed front sight of the Beretta limits your sight options, if you ever decide that you want alternative sights.

Of the two, I think the CZ is a more versatile platform and would be my choice. But you should really handle both yourself.....

Why does this exact topic come up repeatedly?

because nobody reads, thinks they've got a special case, or doesn't have the line between objectivity and subjectivity.

both are excellent guns. CZ folks love CZs as well as the rest of the world that choose it as their service pistol, and the army loves their beretta. just gotta pick what works for you.

for guys, fine pistols are like fine women. what one guy finds hot may not please everyone else, but it won't necessarily mean one is prettier than the other.

I like CZ's and have 3 of them. Let me cover some areas that have not been covered.

1. Beretta's have better fit and finish.

2. CZ's have lower bore axis

3. I think Beretta's have better SA trigger action.

All of the above is true also.

No, there's something odd about the CZ versus Beretta thing. Playing with the search, there are way more Cz versus Beretta threads than Cz versus anything else.

There's actually a net article addressing this subject somewhere.

better fit and finish? they seem the same to me, both excellent. we thought of getting one as a gift for someone we know in the service coming back from the war. the one with the army logo on it...
