I want to order a handgun from Bud's gunshop, on the website it says it is up to the buyer to obey all the state laws-------in my state there is a 7 day waiting period, so how do I do this, fill out my own back ground check, hehe.
They also say they ship it to your home address and not a FFL dealer, how does this work.
Thanks for input,
Floydster

Reading is fundamental.
http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/shipping.php
BudsGunShop.Com will transfer ownership of any firearm ONLY to individuals or agencies in possession of a valid Federal Firearms License (FFL). This means we cannot ship directly to you (unless you have an FFL).

The gun will be shipped to your FFL.

Call your FFL and ask if they'll handle the transfer. If yes, ask them to fax a copy of their license to Bud's with your name on the fax cover sheet.
Call Bud's and give them your CC # and buy your iron.
Give Bud's your billing address and the shipping address of your FFL.
Wait.
Call FFL in 3-4 days and see if your guns have arrived.
If yes, follow the instructions from your FFL about the waiting period.

ill have to look it up, but i dont believe there is a waiting period to purchase a firearm in minnesota. you have to have a pistol permit to purchase a handgun, and there is a 7 day wait for that to clear. it is free, just go to your local sheriff's office.

It sounds like a lot of work, but it really isn't. While I haven't ordered from Buds, I have ordered from two other internet dealers and the transaction was smooth.

Make sure you find out what your FFL's transfer fee is! Some dealers overcharge... it's worth shopping around. Most are around $25, but I've heard of prices ranging from $10-$75.

It might be cheaper to get the gun from your local dealer. The two guns I had transferred were unavailable locally.

I've ordered stuff from Buds Gun Shop, sent to my FFL of course.
They are very good with customer service, I have found. I ordered a rifle and then canceled, twice, for various reasons, and they were very accomodating.

it looks like you were right. there is a 7 day waiting period (if you dont have the pistol permit). personally, i just got the pistol permit. you have to wait the 7 days either way, but the permit is good for a year, its free, you can use as many times as you want for as long as its valid, and you dont have to wait the 7 days on each purchase like you would without it.

floydster - pick up the phone and call them. The folks at Bud's are both friendly and knowledgable.

Its been a while since I've had to call them but I found getting through on the phone to be annoyingly difficult.

Find a local ffl, send their license, order from buds. Buds ships to your ffl, your ffl will handle the stuff your state requires like a waiting period. You cannot purchase any firearm from out of state and have it shipped to your house unless you have a FFL yourself.

I've ordered through Bud's often (most recently, an S&W M&P340, about six hours ago...WOOHOO). My dealer's FFL is already on file with them, plus I've got the Bud's credit card (many financing options available, if needed).

The hardest part is staying off the the "Buy Now" button...

I'll put in another plug for Bud's. A while back I was looking for a modern 6.5x55 SE rifle and saw their ad in GunBroker.com (Tikka T3, great price), but the listing had expired. I called them up and they said no problem, they would honor the price. I had never bought anything online that wasn't C&R before, but they helped make the whole procedure quick and painless.
I would definitely order from them again.
(BTW- That darn gun shot MOA right out of the box with commercial Hornady ammo, i.e I'm doubly happy!)

I order through Buds so often I got the GE Money Sport Credit Card. No Payments or interest for 90+ days depending on the price of purchase.

I'm looking at getting the S&W 640 model right now.
