Hi everyone. I've been looking at getting a new Mark III and then adding a 6" Pac-Lite upper. When I do the math I would be spending ~$650-$700. I have to say that I do like the light feel in my hands of the Pac-Lite and it's that feel that keeps me coming back to it.

The Hunter/Target/Competition models are heavier than I'd like.

When I step back and look at that price range ($650-$700) it makes me wonder what else is out there that I can compare the Mark III/Pac-Lite configuration to. I looked at the Volquartsen Olympic and Lightweight models which will price out at $950-$1000. That's a big $$ difference and they're about as heavy as the H/T/C models.

Any suggestions for a lightweight, ~ 6" barrel .22lr in the $700 range that would be akin to the MarkIII/Pac-Lite? Thanks in advance.

[I'm not interested in anything less than a 5.5" barrel]

Also consider buying a Pac-lite model already set up. You can get the Ruger Mk x "lower" as an aftermarket item IIRC, and you may be able to buy the lower and Pac-lite upper cheaper than buying the whole Mk III then adding the PL.

I bought the Browning, did the trigger job myself, installed a factory adjustable trigger, and love it.

Interesting. I've heard nothing but rave reviews about the Buckmark but no dealer (as in not one) in my area has any product in their stores. Apparently everyone has backorders on the Buckmark and can't give me any indication of when they will receive a supply.

One dealer has a Ruger 22/45 fitted with a Pac-Lite upper. I would be all over it but the grip doesn't work for me and you can't replace the grips on this 22/45 model. Well, short of drilling into the existing grip or sanding it down and I don;t want to get involved with that.

Do you know of any dealers that sell a Ruger Mk x lower with the Pac-Lite upper already installed? If I could find another dealer, like the one in my area, that option could work. Unfortunately, while the dealer in my area is favorably pricing out the pre-assembled unit in stock, they are pricing out a newly-ordered unit at the MSRP of both the gun and the upper. That makes no sense.
