This is what happens with a lightweight .270 with a scope that has a 2 inch eye relief.

Excuse my hair, I just got done lifting weights. :)

Just thought I would share.

i too have felt the loving touch of a 7mm mag. right after telling my friend to keep his eye back fromt he scope

I had a after market sks mount come off with the scope on it and hit me in the forehead. I was dripping blood so bad the range officer got the first aid kit and fixed me up.

I am the oldest of three boys in my family. When my younger brother (the tough macho one:rolleyes: ) was about 19 he had a rifle scope mounted on his 12 gauge Ithaca 37 Deerslayer.
He was working 2nd shift and after picking the gun up at the shop he dropped it off at home on his way to work. My youngest brother was about 15 at the time thought he would be helpful and sight the gun in that afternoon in case middle brother didn't have time the next afternoon.(The day after that being opening day)
Well little brother got off one shot then had to go stop the blood flow. The next morning he told middle brother he could sight his own #@%& gun in .
Well, being the tough older brother he started laughing and razzing,"Whats the matter wuss"? Ain't you man enough to handle a real gun"? "Lets go out and I"ll show you how a real man does it"
Yep, one shot then he has to go stop the blood flow. (And no he still hasn't lived that one down.)
Over the next 2 or 3 years he missed 2 nice bucks from being so scope shy.

Yeah I got tapped in the same spot shooting a scoped 12 GA pump 870 offhand. I was young and stupid, and in an attempt to increase accuracy, I flattened my support hand and laid the shotgun on it, instead of grasping the foregrip.

My dad thought it was hilarious. I bled like a stuck hog.

I think that was the first time he ever heard me curse.

Still have the scar.

Just remember, Pain heals. Chicks dig scars. Glory lasts forever.
Tell the girls its from Afghanistan when you killed a Taliban leader at 900 yards with a single shot to the head. It'll be the best injury you ever had!

I've mostly stuck with iron sights and close range shots, but I am a member of the "bloody knuckles slide bite club" from shooting semi-autos.

Funny, I only have revolvers now, although I want another Glock someday whenever I can figure out which caliber I want...

I did get smacked by a scope on a BB gun. (Don't ask...)

the last time I ever got "bit" by anything was when I was 4 or so and my dad was teaching me to shoot a breakaction .410.

Unfortunately he let me figure out the hard way why not shouldering the firearm as opposed to stuffing the stock under my armpit was a bad idea.

Course, what you might think would happen didn't, it was quite a bit more brutal.

I choked up REALLY tight on it after pulling back the hammer (ya'll see where this is going yet?) and BAM right nostril tenderized by hammer. Kinda a freak thing, never heard of anyone else doing that.. seen tons of friends get scoped before. One had it real bad, perfect moon around his eyebrow but blood everywhere. That was with a .308.

A friend of mine has scar on his lip from the bite of a pistol gripped shotgun. He tried to sight it like a rifle. A few stitches later, he won't do that again!

A month ago some one next to me at the rane asked me to shoot his 12g o' deer slugs 'cause he wasn't able to group it for zeroing. I got so into the dead steady, motionless reticle , slow trigger pull that I neglect to get a firm grip on the benchrested gun.

Wasn't a true scope eye , more like scope forehead ... I acted like it didn't hurt.
