Outed By my Mother

Not to be a jerk but, for my Mom (and only for her, if she was still alive) I would have left it in the truck.

I understand about sticking to your guns (no pun intended) but you have to respect other people , ESPECIALLY in their own home.

If she was that bothered by it, I would respect her wishes.

What wishes?

From my understanding the mother freaked out then moved on to the next order of business.

I didn't read anywhere about anyone requesting that he disarm and leave the pistol outside in his automobile?

Also assuming that someone is an idiot gun-grabber b/c they disagree with carrying around the house is not High Road, either.

Well, she is a pretty strong anti (product of a liberal NYC family) and in front of a crowd she proclaims WHAT'S THAT? I tried to brush it off like it was nothing, but she persisted.
I guess since it was your Mom, "I'm just happy to see you" wouldn't have worked...

It's the hallmark of an idiot gun-grabber to claim to be able to KNOW when you're going to need a gun. Either the VA Tech students and the women in the Tinley Park Lane Bryant either COULDN'T know they were going to need guns, or they were stupid, KNEW and went ANYWAY.

as dormitories here are far cheaper than any off-campus housing.

going unarmed is a calculated risk.

we all go through seasons of life... when you finish school and work in the city or start a family or retire to FL, you're "risk management quotient" may tip the other way...

One of the things I never really understood, untill I was wearing the husband/father shoes, was how other centered your life can become....

Calculating the risk quotient for yourself is one thing...

Calculating it for your wife and kids is quite another... especially if you believe with all your being that protecting and providing for them is your God given calling and that on judgement day, there won't be any excuses.

I heard a career FBI missing/exploited chidren investigator interviewed live on the radio as part of a "panel of experts" a few years back after some high profile abduction had taken place (might have been the Smart girl). He made a comment (that has stuck with me ever since) that he had never investigated a child abduction where the childs parents could be described (in his opinion) as over-protective.

And one final thought... do you believe that the number of sexual preditors and sickos is increasing or decreasing?
