buffalo bore make +p 9x18 makarov rounds wich are tested in a cz 82.
they are quite remarkable, and well,, in my head more than squash any qualms one might have with the 9x18 mak, they are 115 grain, flat tip, hard cast lead, bullets with over 1100 fps velocity.
seriously the kind of thing that makes me wonder why 9x18 mak isn't the definitive cc weapons round.
anywho, all interested, check them out, they also make +p hollowpoints in mak.

Its a great round but you can get the same thing on 9mm for 10 dollars a box. I think thats the answer to your question.

Yes Fatcat, but it won't have the "Mystique" of the ComBlock weapons, along with their mix of affordability and reliability and effectiveness and size.

You might as well just get a Glock.....

The only thing 9x18 has going for it is very reliable Russian designed Makarov pistol. I can get pack of Speer Gold Dot .45+P JHP for about the same price as Buffalo Bore 9x18+P. Frankly quality .45 FMJ which is more effective then any 9x18 load can be had for about $18/50 pack.

+1. I have the most compact of the eastern block pistols, the only one that lends itself to pocket carry, a P64 Radom. However, it's heavy, all steel. My 15 year old Kel Tec 9 holds near twice the round count and +P 9 is pushing a 115 XTP out its barrel at 1263 fps. It weighs, but 14 ounces dry and is a little wider, but shorter. It's also nearly as accurate and I shoot it's DAO a bit better as the transition from DA to SA even though the DA is now actually usable after the Wolff spring installation, is hard to master. The SA is so light on the gun after the heavy DA that I double tap whether I want to or not many times. The DAO on the Kel Tec is long, but lighter and smoother, easy to control, and there's no DA/SA transition to deal with.

In short, I like the Radom, don't intend to sell it, it's very accurate, but my KT is still my preferred pocket carry.

In addition, I'm unaware of any +P SAAMI designation for 9x18. The 9x18 is already on the edge of acceptable working pressures for a blow back pistol, sorta was the point it its development from the 9mm Ultra. I don't know if I trust this newer BB stuff. There's a thread on the revolver board about a .38 load from them that pushes into the .357 magnum lower level performance envelope. None of that stuff is going to find its way into MY .38s, I can tell ya that. Besides, I'm cheap. I even handload 9x18 and 9x19, though trimming 9x18 is a pain (from 9x19 brass) and the little fart tosses brass into the next county, so I sorta prefer shooting Monarch FMJ at the range that I get from Academy for 9.95 a box. When I have carried the gun, it's been with Silver Bear 94 grain JHP, not the best for self defense, but hell, I ain't that serious about 9x18 as a carry and rarely carry the gun. Prefer 9x19 and .38 special +P....... along with 140 grain .357 magnum on occasion or 200 grain .45ACP if I'm going to belt carry.

I used to carry the hornaday xtp's in m pa63 and makarov. I think it mite be too hot and mite wear some parts more quickly then standard loads.

well

I didn't intend this to be a well, "thats still not as good as such and such round thread", I love my 82 and I know others love theirs, and as such the intended audience were well, people that do shoot mak and may have not know....I love 45 and I love 9 and 40 and....all sorts of rounds, but a gun that make you happy, well, makes you happy, and for all the time you aren't spending killing badies, it may as well be making you happy.....the love of your gun is part of what will give you the confidence to use it, and the desire to learn it inside and out.

is 100% correct
here is the BUT
the CZ 82 was designed for the 9x18 Vz. 82 round, which pushes a 63grn sintered IRON (as in 'armor peircing'....) at a bit over 1200 FPS, and is ~25% hotter than standard Mak ammo, that said, using a BB in something like a PA-63 is asking for trouble....

But on a funny note, a number of buggered PA-63 might just be from Vz.82 ammo, since one distributor offered a package deal of a PA-63 and 200 rounds of 'black surplus' 9 Mak. BTW a CZ 82 has a Poly rifled bore do to the fact that the Iron round EATS traditional rifling.
