I just bought my first gun at a gunshow yesterday. A Desert Eagle Baby Eagle .45. I also bought a box of Federal +P Hydrashok rounds and a box of Remington Golden Saber rounds. The man at the ammo stand said that the Desert Eagle will eat anything. I decided to take his word, and I also thought that my Baby Eagle would be fine with the +P's. Reading the manual though, it says that Magnum Research will void the warranty if something happens due to using +P's and that they dont reccomend them. One of my friends says he would shoot them anyway. Ive heard that it will wear the gun out faster, but what are some other bad things and why do they not reccomend them?

i would break the gun in with a few hundred rounds of standard ammo first. i have a .40s&w baby eagle that i am very happy with. i bought the hogue grips which i think are a big improvement over the stock grips. i paid $298 for mine. what did yours cost you?

Almost no users manual will say anything positive about shooting +P as the lawyers want every caveat they can find. Most user manuals today are ten pages of legaleze and a page or two of real info. I have an all steel BDE .45 and I'd shoot anything with it...

Yep. Mine's all steel too. The largest of the BE's. I wouldn't have it any other way. I'll get myself some target ammo for the range and break it in first, then just use the +P's for defense and shoot them at the range occasionally. What is some good round tip target ammo that works well in these guns? Ive heard that Desert Eagles are picky when it comes to ammo. I also am having a hard time finding grips and other accesories for it. Magnum Research carries grips for the .40 and 9mm BE's but not the .45 for example.

no, i bought mine new. it was on clearance and then i got my wifes employee discount on it. it was such a good deal that i had to get it...
