I've had a P07 for a while (love it) and recently a P09 (ditto). My P07 is the original Duty version - no swapping backstraps and it's got the older curved trigger and ring hammer.

1. I'm seriously considering swapping the trigger for the straighter version as found on my P09. I like the feel of it better. I wanted to ask about the hammer though; besides the look of the angular hammer, is there any advantage to changing over from the ring version? Like, will the trigger pull improve or anything? If not I probably won't spend the extra money.

2. I intentionally found a P07 with a B-serial prefix, in hopes of avoiding the frame bulge issue. I think however that my gun has the slightest amount of bulge around the metal insert above/forward of the trigger. I doubt I can get CZ to honor a warranty; I'm not the original owner, and I bought it FTF so there was no official transfer.

Has anyone tried injecting a very small amount of epoxy or something between the metal insert and the polymer outer frame, and clamping it, to see if it alleviates the bulge? I know it's strictly cosmetic but what can I say, I'd rather it didn't have the issue.

Thanks!

I also have a P-07 DUTY, but probably made AFTER the frame bulge issue was resolved.

I'd be curious as to whether changing the hammer has any effect. Generally, however, it's the after-market hammers (from the CZ Custom Shop or Cajun Gun Works) that offer some improvements. Mine has a great trigger. You might consider visiting CajunGunWorks.com to see what David offers. The trigger on mine is so good, I don't think I'd bother trying to improve it. (I've had a bunch of different guns, and quite a few CZs over the years, and my P-07 is one of the better ones.)

I'm not sure that injecting anything into the frame will solve the bulge problem (if that's what you've got.) I think the bulges were cosmetic, and did NOT affect function in any way.

The fact that you are NOT the original owner probably doesn't enter into the picture, as CZ warranties aren't lifetime. If the guy you bought it from was the original owner, he might be able to get it repaired/replaced for you (if you pay any costs, such as shipping) -- as he's still the owner of record, as far as CZ is concerned.... They might ignore the warranty term for something like a frame bulge.

I had my P-07 on gunbroker,.....even with it at $415, no one bid,.....so I'm keeping it and putting Cajun Gun Works hammer and trigger in it. I did the hammer on my P-09 and the single action is definitely better. It will take a bit of doing, but if you're mechanically inclined enough, you should have few problems.

I'd do one of two things:

1) Live with it; as you said, it is supposed to be entirely cosmetic
2) Sell it and just buy the newer version with all the P09/rev 2 changes. This would probably cost a couple hundred bucks tops, and there are a lot of things I like better about the second version. Particularly the forward slide serrations, flatter trigger, changeable backstraps.

Own two of the newest versions, P07 in 9mm and P09 in 40. Both have the same slight frame bulge right out of the box. I consider it a non-issue as the pistols work as designed and if I happen to reach 50,000 rounds I will report back.

Funny thing about that internet...

I just got Cajun Gun Works parts in for my P-07. I got the upgrade hammer and a trigger. Installed them myself lastnight. :D
