P229 fair price

I'm working on a trade for a shotgun, better half says something has to go before I buy another gun, Imagine that with my collection being as meager as it is , anyway since I'm not a big fan of the .40 short & weak I've decided this is the one to go. Sig P229 .40 caliber plus an extra .357 Sig barrel, night sights and three 12 round magazines I would consider it in 90% condition. What's a fair asking price?

The market for used SIG's is pretty soft right now. LEO agency trade-in can be had at big discounts. I brought a used one in 95+% condition (slight holster wear one edge of the slide) for $450.00 less than new LGS price last month.

A couple of years ago I paid $600 for a LNIB P229R E2 with SIG night sights and 3 extra mags.

Did you buy it new? How old are the night sights? Do you have the box and paperwork? What type of damage/wear brings it down to 90% condition? Is the .357 Sig barrel a conversion barrel? Which brand is the .357 Sig barrel? I think these are all pertinent questions before a fair price can be established.

Now, go take inventory of your wife's shoe closet and make sure she gets rid of one pair before she buys another.

I see used .40SW SIGs sell for around $450 here. It seems they are much less desirable than the 9mm versions.

You might want to try selling the .357SIG barrel separately to maximize profit.

I'd try moving it on gun broker.com, probably starting at about $400 or so for just the pistol. I agree you'll get more selling the barrel separately.

$450-$525 for the used P229 and $75-$100 for the 357 barrel. Check over on Sig Forum and look at the Classifieds and you might get a better idea.

I'm guessing $550 should be pretty good. I would be willing to pay that for a 229 if I was searching for one. With the night sights, 3 mags, extra barrel and good condition it's a fair price and I wouldn't go lower unless you don't mind losing money
