Pack at work? Despite company policy?

No, no carry at work even though it's allowed in the state. I'm close to a six figure salary...I could fill a book with the trials and tribulations I had to go through to get this point. I ain't about to lose it all.

I will admit to having a firearm in the trunk that I either purchased at lunch or was taking to the range after work. But never, ever, do I pack at the job.

I would never carry in violation of company policy , and anyone who says they would on a public forum has never googled thier username imho . Its not an issue for me tho since my " company " is a farm/ranch owned by my wife and I as well as a couple of other small business intrests .

No, but I'm in a job where I get to carry one of their weapons most've the time.

Only place I've ever seriously considered carrying to work against policy would've broken so many laws I was scared to risk it - I was underage at the time to begin with, and it was on a college campus where it was illegal to carry. Still, walking across campus at 3am, unarmed, in the dark was pretty disconcerting at times.

can't carry where I work fireable offence in fact can't bring ammo on prop.
had a fellow worker suspended for 3 days when a random search found a shotgun shell in the trunk.

Yep. Packing against policy. Don't really care much for this job either way, so my decision was easy. If you don't have something else you could go do readily to pay the bills then I don't recommend it.

Nope...

Employees are prohibited from bringing weapons onto company premises, including buildings, parking lots, or any other company property.

This policy applies to weapons of all kinds, including guns and knives, and to related paraphernalia such as ammunition.

The person in charge of HR and the resident safety nazi both know that if someone goes "raped ape" here at work, I'm smashing out the window behind my cube and bugging out.

Quite a few of the people I work with think the policy is retarded...

Nope, I agreed to abide by my companies policy when I took the job. A man who cannot keep his word is not a person who can claim the moral high-ground on any issue, and probably shouldnt be carrying a gun in the first place.

My company policy says that persons bringing in weapons may be subject to immediate termination. I read that as they may not be subject to termination as well. :)

Officially, I never carry at work.

If SHTF however, I might be the guy you want to be near.

Oh please, go on and tell us how much better you are than the rest of us. A policy that violates our constitutional right's is what is not high road here.

For what it worth, o' righteous one, there was no policy when I took the job. Then they posted later on. Not what I agreed to, I didn't sign anything saying that. Ergo, I have NOT broken my word.

It's funny how some are just sheep in wolves clothing...

This semester school has made my schedule too tight to work. At my last job, I did carry against policy. I worked alone, all night, with sometimes large sums of money in an unlocked building. It took me a while to work up to it, but I basically reached the point where'd I'd been carrying long enough to know what gun and rig to use and the limitations thereof. More importantly, I made a conscious decision that I my life was more important than the income provided by this particular job (that would apply to most jobs, I guess). Had I been caught, immediate termination would have been likely but there would have been a small chance of a wrist slap due to the attitude toward guns of those in charge.

I carry at work, but there is no policy against it :) . A couple times someone has noticed the bulge or my shirt has ridden up and people have noticed, but no one really cares. At this company of 15-20 people I know of at least three others with carry permits and at least half have mentioned the guns they own. Right now I have a little cartridge collection on my desk and a Romanian AK parts kit sitting on my bookshelf behind me.

I carry at work, but I've found no written policy against it or even mentioning weapons in the work place. I have not asked about it either...I just go about my business and it works for me.

same situation as jamz.

I carry TO the office, and i carry FROM the office, and I carry while away from the office at lunch. but i never carry AT the office.

Same situation as my wife. And, even having it in her car is enough to get her fired (until the new legislation passes - hopefully).

I work on gov property, so no. Luckily, I'm close enough where I can walk home taking backroads in under an hour so if SHTF so I won't stress too much.

I do not carry on the job, but I leave my gun locked in the car. I believe I have the right to protect myself traveling to and from work regardless of company policy. Thus, it is left in the car, in the parking lot, and the doors are locked.

I carry

at work in a telephone company office and everyone knows it. I have a 40mm rpg shell with a linked string of 7.62 X 51 wrapped around it for a paperweight. Everyone is polite and I suspect at least a quarter of the guys here carry also.

Might be a good excuse to quit. No company has the jurisdiction nor the authority to touch my personal vehicle.

I will not work for a company where my rights are not respected. I currently work for (what is for the time being) my family's small company. We do not have a weapons policy. Reason I say for the time being is the company is soon being sold to another small family owned company. However I met the new owners and they are pro-gun NRA members.

I have not yet checked on their weapons policy, I plan on telling them I carry and maybe we can work something out. I often work alone at night, and have encountered a few strange folks who found their way onto the property. People will just walk right in to our private truck shop.

The office I work at is in the owners' home & the Woman of the house has told me no guns in her house, I know her husband (the boss) has a .45 in the safe upstairs, I still respect her wishes & leave mine in the car.

My company forbids firearms at work. It's in our handbook. You would probably get fired if caught.

I comfort myself with the fact that by law, my company is totally responsible for my safety while at work.

Not much comfort, but they can be held liable for my safety. That's all I got.

How's the air up there on that horse? ;) Because you know that the anti-self defense stuffed shirt bean-counters that MAKE such policies? In lieu of common sense, rational thought, and oftentimes REAL security measures and concern for employee safety...?

THEY sure can't claim "the high road!" :fire:

Back on topic, I think I may have said before that in this "information age," we need to expand the old adage to "don't ask, don't tell, don't POST!" :banghead:
