saw a decent used 98 for less than $200, but the innards from the rear ghost ring sight were missing; couldn't find if Nurmich has them. Any other sources? Do most of the 870 aftermarket parts bolt on good? thanks

It will probably be a problem to replace those parts or get a whole new sight assembly. You can try and contact Hawk ind. or IAC They are the two who imported the Model 98 Norinco 870 copy. They cost around $200 new so a good price for that gun would be about $150 or less.

"Some" Remington 870 parts "may" bolt on.
Stocks are iffy, side saddles seem to fit fine, magazine extensions won't work due to the different location of the barrel support ring.
An extension for an 18" gun will stick out beyond the muzzle of an 18" Norinco 98 by several inches.

Stocks, Forends, Tactical big head safety and side saddle shell carriers all fit the Norinco 870 copy. I make a mag tube extension that will fit the Norinco 870 copies and the Pardner Pump shotguns. It is 3.5" long and is even with the end of the muzzle. It will give your gun 7+1 capacity. I am sold out of them right now but I going make more in a few weeks. I am taking orders if anyone is interested. Pics available.
