For all those that followed the Patriot class, my Patriot is finally done. I didn't fit the original barrel in the class well enough to satisfy my accuracy requirements. Teddy Jacobson was kind enough to refer me to one of the best barrel men in the country who not only installed the new barrel, he also did a little checkering on the front of the trigger guard, re-serrated the rear of my slide (I had done this but Dave Sample had to take it off after it was bead blasted) and while he was in there he also replaced the CMC trigger with a STI carbon/titanium unit... nothing worng with the CMC functionally but I didn't like the triangles and wanted a black trigger.

In the end, I put 92 hours into the gun. I'm currently building another to the same spec except it has a rail... and I'm sending it out to have the barrel fitted the first time around!

Since I got it back, the gun has run 1,000+ rounds with zero problems and it is more accurate than anything else I own. I haven't ransom rested it but I'm sure it would meet any standard set by the Baers and Wilsons of the world. It is just tight enough... not like a Baer where you can't rack the slide, but not loose either.

The finish is a propriatary polymer/moly true matte black done by the same smith who did my barrel (who prefers to remain nameless as it was all done pro bono).

Without further ado...

Custom Serial number... part of the allure of a custom gun. I really appreciate Caspian offering the option!

Gunner Grips available from http://www.simonichknives.com/gunner.htm for $65. Great value IMHO. No slip, yet not so aggresive they hurt after a full day of shooting.

Note the checkering on the trigger guard... Dave Sample did the slide stop... Carbon Fiber STI trigger.

My dad took these pics and isn't really a "custom 1911" guy... I'll try to get some more angles later.
