Pay pal is anti gun I suggest you close your account.

Does PayPal actually donate money to specifically anti-gun causes, or are folks just calling them anti-gun because they don't let you pay for guns with their service?

Outback Steakhouse doesn't sell .40 S&W ammo, but I wouldn't say that's an anti-RKBA decision on their part.

I guess I find it somewhat hypocritical to do business with companies that are anti-gun. I too think we're hurting our cause. We complain about 'liberals' taking our gun rights away, yet we fuel those same principles by giving our money to companies that support those same 'liberals' ideas.

Hitting them in their pocket book is the only way they'll ever take notice, so I don't give my money to companies that are anti-gun unless I have to.

I wonder how many of the 60,000,000 gun owners in this country give money to companies like Paypal. Is there no alternative? I go with an alternative whenever I find one. And since there isn't anything on Paypal I'll ever want to buy anyway, I see no reason to give them my money.

As everyone said though, it's a free country. If you want to support anti-gun companies go ahead. I just think that financial support of those companies will hasten our downfall.

Maybe. I tried to toe the line for many years. The problem, for me, came when the exhaustive lists of anti-gun companies started making the rounds. I just don't have the patience to go through three and four page lists every time I want to go shopping, eat out, or make a long distance phone call.

I suppose that makes me anti-american. Or something.

I've tried to toe the line too and there are companies I don't have a choice but to do business with.

Paypal sure isn't one of them.

H&Hhunter,

All the other posters have made perfect arguments about your breach of contract, and your misunderstanding of the purpose of the U.S. Constitution.

Now, would you care to comment on those subjects directly? I am interested to hear your answers.

Just recently I ordered something from someone. It was gun related; a holster or ammo, but I cannot remember what or who just now, using my CC. Once I hit the payment button a confirmation page said my payment, through PAYPAL was accepted.

***? How does that work? And why do they have a beef with some folks over gun stuff but not with others?

I was going to use paypal

I was going to use paypal for about 20 transactions with a group I am with that I am having custom jackets made for. Is there any other company out there that I can use like paypal to accept credit card or bank account payments?? Everyone on this site has a paypal account, and I feel bad asking them to use another program simply because I am pro gun, but I would feel really awfull using paypal given there stance on firearms.

Anyone have any ideas of how to go about this without inconveniencing 20 or so other people just to make myself feel better???

it's a problem with the internet

paypal is just about the biggest kid in the playground so ya have to play by his rules.
It really stinks, like Youtube and craigslist, both run by nannystate soscialist and they
shut down conservative while leaving
the most vile stuff imaginable.
In craigslist case it's very true they try to shut down every firearm sale ( afew get thru) but sex slavery is fine with them!
youtube, craigslist & paypal are huge and all nannystate nazis.
If we don't find a way to generate alternatives we'll be up a certain creek without a paddle.

If I send bills to people via gearpay, do they have to join gearpay to send me money??? It doesnt really give a good explanation on the website.

I stopped using them years ago. They are a de facto bank, but because they steal your dollars and give you funny money they don't have to abide by any banking regulations. Can you imagine a bank that would steal your money and give you monopoly currency at the ATM's, then suspend your account because they don't like what you buy?

Craigslist and the others are annoying, but they don't take my money so I really don't care what they allow or don't allow. PayPal is different because it's essentially a con game. They take advantage of the fear many people have of using their real money to shop online to convince them to give PayPal the cash in exchange for play money. Of course, the fact is your money isn't safe on PayPal at all, and many have lost enormous sums as third party criminals have been able to get past the minimal security and use PayPal to have free range of all the accounts linked to PayPal. And since PayPal isn't considered a bank, they can and will tell you to **** if you have a problem. They have absolved themselves of any responsibility to protect any funds you're stupid enough to give them or let them access.

What you're asking is that the government force a private company to act against its wishes, rather than simply use some other method of payment. This is Statism at its worst, and contrary to the very ideals of Liberty.

No sir. What I am asking is that a bank be treated as a bank, and abide by the rules of banking. That includes full finduciary responsibility for every penny they receive and hold, insurance over those funds and no interference with the flow of those funds absent a valid court order. PayPal is a fool's bank. And they're a bunch of anti gun scum to boot. I'd like to see the entire operation shut down for rampant fraud, violation of finduciary duties, bad faith, and violation of several hundred federal banking laws. Before I knew any better I let them have access to my real bank account, and I was shocked to discovery they could invade it at will to pay any claim made on my paypal funds. It's a bad business run by a bunch of crooked con men who've convinced people they can't use real money for online transactions. That may have been a problem ten years ago, but these days there's absolutely no need to go through those pigs. Every vendor of any significance takes all the major credit cards through systems far more secure than anything PayPal offers, not to mention old fashioned PMO's and checks. Even a lot of ebay vendors take real money. The best way to weed out those who don't is to stop doing business with them. That's also the best way to get rid of PayPal.

I buy a lot of stuff on line, and I don't have any problem ignoring paypal. I use this stuff called currency. Ever heard of it? Those vendors who insist on going through paypal don't get any of it. I don't suffer any. As a group we need to stop supporting these jerks and do our best to kick them until they're lungs are full of blood. So to speak ;-) That's the only way things will change. Trying to argue with PayPal about your rights is like arguing with a carjacker about your rights. They don't care--they're just out to rob and rape you.

ONLY FOOLS USE PAYPAL

I've had PayPal since before I owned a gun.

I'll continue to use it, but only because I stick it to them by ensuring all my money transfers are 100% free for me. I cost them money (or at the very least keep them from making a profit) with every one of my transfers.

All you have to do is use a checking account as your primary account. Sending money from a checking account is completely free, despite it being the same process they use to transfer with credit cards. Likewise, I require that anyone sending me money uses a checking account.

Don't use credit cards with PayPal and they won't make a dime. Just make certain that you never upgrade from a Personal account. Every time you or someone else tries to use a credit card, PayPal will sneakily try to trick you into accepting the terms of a Premium account. Don't fall for it!

Cosmoline +1

I used to have a paypal account and cancelled it several years ago strictly because of their gun policy. I never used it to buy firearms or accessories, but cancelled when the policy became known.

I refuse to do business with a company that places any restrictions on my purchases.

Been using PP for years. Will continue to do so. I KNOW they don't like guns, and I avoid gun related purchases from them.

I think the simple fact is most folks just blindly click the I AGREE to the TOS stuff all the time, it was plainly spelled out in their agreement. I read it, made a mental note to not use them for firearms or accessories for firearms, and have had MANY transactions in the last few years.................

I am neithr pro or anti PayPal...It is a service that is needed in 2006 that has a degree of protection to consumers...Ebay and PayPal of course are one company that is publicly owned...Just to play the devils advocate for a second here, how would you think PayPal could absolve themselves from liability from the sale/purchase of a firearm to a JV or Felon or fruitcake to which they are a party to. If you dont want to use them dont, they are not loosing any sleep over it....

I do not support anti RKBA, and therefore, anti American companies.

Seems pretty cut and dry to me.

If that's your position, I don't quite understand why you signed up with Paypal. Paypal's stance on firearms is spelled out quite clearly in their TOS agreement.

I'm sorry but I find a certain degree of satisfaction in making gun purchases using Paypal but not stating that it is gun related. It is like my way of sticking it to them.

Isn't PayPal

Based in California?
They have to abide by CA law which doesn't allow gun stuff purchases.

The real question is whether the Owners are anti-gun isn't it?
