Peculiarities in Gun Taste?

The only handguns I can honestly say I am interested in are the Colt 1903/08 and FN M1910. Anything else just doesn't do it for me.

I've noticed that I like Parkerized finishes on military rifles, but not on handguns.

I like Stainless revolvers, but not stainless autos.

I like SA and DAO, but not DA/SA.

I like 9mm and .45ACP, but not .40 S&W

I like scopes on Bolt actions but not Lever actions.

I'm pretty much right on line with you. I don't mind parkerized 1911s though.

i like my autos nice and simple all black which my p345 and xd 45 are..if its too pretty 1. it cost too much and 2. on top of 1, it'll be just too pretty to use and i won't wanna mess it up haha. probably the same with my revolvers too...and i like my marlin lever action 30-30 and .357 mag carbine!

Whichever firearm best synthesizes the core concepts of ergonomics and long-standing design theories (fibonacci/golden ratio/phi) gets my attention. For example a 5" S&W Model 27 may as well be a handheld representation of the Golden Rectangle.

Yes, I know, I'm weird.

I like DA/SA on Sigs only.

DAO on revolvers for me.

Not a Glock fan but do like XD's

Guns should be black or stainless. No other colors (ie tan, od green)

Dont like traditional scopes on anything other than a bolt action rifle.

I despise seeing a nice shotgn with ducks or dogs drawn on the side, same with hunting rifles depicting deer or the like. I can't stand revolvers with more than a 6" barrel, or the older style grips that are huge at the bottom and make it impossible to get a grip. I don't like .25auto .32 auto .380 auto .40 s&w or rifle cartridges of less than .30 caliber aside from .22LR

I don't see any problem with polymer parts in guns, but I can't stand polymer framed pistols. I guess I just don't like the way they feel, compared to steel or aluminum framed pistols.

Though I appreciate the work it takes to build an extremely accurate rifle, sub-MOA groupings don't interest me. Though I appreciate the skill it takes to make good hits at long ranges, I have no interest in long range shooting.

I think a quality AR, outfitted with a quality white light and loaded with Hornady TAP ammo is just about the perfect defensive weapon.

Despite my admiration of modern technology, I'm more interested in blued revolvers than Glocks or Berettas.

I like sheer reliability and durability.

Probably why I love GLOCKS. Carbon steel that is blued or parked over SS. I also love bolt action rifles(K-31 is my favorite), pump action shotguns(ithaca 37, 870). I also love a good 1911 after it's proven to be reliable. That's actually about it so if anyone knows of any auto as reliable and durable as a glock, let me know.

Oh, and the Mauser C96 is my favorite gun of all time.

Used to have a thing -- almost steampunk, though I'm too old to even know what that is :) -- for turn of the century handguns; Webley, M1892 Ordonnance, Borchardt, Broomhandle ... I used to think it would be very kewl to carry an M1911 ... Steyr-Hahn.

Nowadays I'm developing a taste for SIG Classic P-series, but I don't think that's especially unusual.

regards,

GR

I prefer single-stack semi-automatic pistols. In short, a gun should be no larger than it needs to be.

I also prefer wood stocks, rather than plastic or rubber.

Most of my firearms are relics that are 50 or more years old.

Whoah...

I would have lived my entire life and never noticed that if you hadn't pointed it out.

I love 1911's of any flavor, ARs of the m4 and car type. Dan Wesson monson guns because of the deep rich bluing they all seem to share. Hate stainless or matte stainless but once had a bright colt 38super that I kick myself everyday for selling. I'm also devoloping a fondness for the springer xd's and xdm's lately.
