> I think that Pedersoli revolver isn't made by Pedersoli!<
Well, I just went through this a short while back, during a time where I was deciding on which better-quality '58 to buy. So here is the scoop:
Pedersoli buys the guns, mostly assembled, from one of the better manufacturers in Europe. Nobody was willing to say from whom, though. Pedersoli then disassembles the revolvers, reworks and re-hardens all the parts, and then puts a Lothar-Walther barrel on the pistol. They are genuinely good firearms when finished.
These sorts of arrangements are common for the Italian firearms makers. Uberti makes some parts for Pedersoli and Pedersoli makes some for Uberti.
I did buy the Pietta '58 sold by Dixie Gun Works as a 'Shooter's Revolver" and, IIRC, the URL is
http://www.dixiegunworks.com/product_info.php?cPath=22_92_187_189&products_id=4098 and it is a very nice gun. It has a gain-twist barrel, the fit and the finish are excellent and it is nice and smooth. Most of all, it really shoots well--far better than I can. Give it a look-see because DGW is a good outfit with which to do business.
