I just bought an Marlin 1895 CB and I was woundering which rear peep and what highth front sight. I was wonting to replace the front sight with an fire fly sight or some thing close to it. And does the tang sight hit the bolt when it is in the rear pos?

I had a tang sight installed on my Marlin Cowboy 30-30. I love it. IMHO, it seerms more inherently accurate than a leaf sight and it looks like it belongs on the rifle.

Does the bolt hit the sight when open? And does it get in the way of your thunb when aiming? I,m getting one in 45-70, has eny one shot this gun? I had one of the 1895gs and my brother liked it more than I did. Ihad a Williams peep sight on it , IT was the one that mounts on top of the receaver. It worked great in conjuction with an fire fly sight.

I am trying to decide the exact same thing. I've narrowed it down to the xs sight systems or a williams fp. Neither requires tapping the receiver, I believe.

No it should NOT interfere with the bolt or it's placed wrong, however folding it back down CAN ding the stock. A piece of moleskin stops this from happening.

I think I'm going to go with the Williams WGRS peep sight unless something else comes along that I like better. I had it on my Guide Gun it worked well although it did work lose one day at the range and fell off but that was easy to fix. Maybe should have used locktight. The only thing I didn't like was you could not change yardage. But for hunting you realy don't need to. Around here that is I like to keep to thick cover when hunting my self.
