Philly police chief blames availability of guns

Shocked I tell you, SHOCKED that a convicted felon would have a gun.

No one in Philly wants to point the finger at the real problem - the criminals. They'll blame drugs, poverty, lack of health insurance, GUNS, etc, etc, but never address the virtual non-existance of nuclear families, or the gangsta lifestyle glorified by the morons living in the city.
Philly's all about PC. Of the 4 local news stations, only 1 included the fact that the perp was black. The other 3 stations described him as a "20 year-old male with a yellow baseball cap and dark pants."
Total PC response by Philly. Don't step on the black community's toes, while blaming guns for the crime. They got the city government they deserve.

The breakdown of the black family and glorificatoin of gansta/thug lifestyle combine to destroy young black men and women. Poverty, drugs, crime, etc are the result not the cause.

The situation is they are now very close to a major melt down as far a viable culture and that has been going on since the late 60's as far as I have been involved, only gotten worse. When the facts are in, politicians distort them.

He's right, we need to get handguns off the street. Let's start with the police force. 
Really, if handguns are the source of evil in this world then the police should not have them either. As we all should realize the crime does not come from the tool of the criminal. Where crime comes from is quite complex but I imagine that it has something to do with people that have nothing better to do (unemployment, high cost of education), a poor moral compass, and opportunity. Opportunity may come from the handgun but it can also be removed by the handgun, it just depends on who is holding it at the time.

Yes, of coasre those evil guns did it all by themselves THEY are to blame and not the criminals who perpetrated the evil deeds or crime.
Put the guns in jail and let the criminals run free after all its the guns fault they did it all by themselves no hand ever touched them.
Blaming the tools and not the fools makes it easy to avoid responsibilty instead of putting the blame and focus on where it should be say for example on those who prey on innocents and have little if any regard for law and order.:banghead:
