I been looking at 7mm-08 for awhile now and I wanted to get your alls opinion on these models.
1. Savage model 14American Classic
2. savage model 11 lightweight hunter
3. A new Winchester model 70 featherweight
4. Remington model seven

Ditto on the Winchester. Got a .243 in a Carolina Featherweight and I've got to say, in my 58 years it is the finest out the box gun I've ever owned. (Just wish after purchasing a 7mm08 Hawkeye that i had gotten the Mod. 70 in 7-08.( My new favorite cartridge).

It's not on your list and I am not trying to add it, but my wife had a Tikka 7mm-08 at one time that was a sweet rifle. Light, smooth and deadly.:D

Of the choices listed, I like the Winny too.

'Nuther vote for the Winchester.

I lucked into a custom 7mm-08 built on an FN SPR receiver. Basically a new FN-built M70 short action with a pre-64 trigger. Short of this, I'd go with a new M70.

Dont count out the T/C Venture weathershield.Guaranteed 1 in MOA out of the box.Own in .223 just bought 7mm-08 on gunbroker 377 bucks shipped.

I would go with the 'Featherweight' and I would be willing to fuss with it if it wasn't real accurate out of the box. I don't know if you can quite count on it to be less-than 1MOA out of the box, but most reports say the FN made guns are generally a good bet. Quality wise, the Model 70 is, IMO, heads and tails above the rest of your list.

If you threw a low-end Sako, a TC Icon, or a Weatherby Lazerguard, in there I might be more tempted to try one of those guns.

the one

I gotta model 7 in the 7mm-08 and it is by far the best deer rifle in the world hands down. I will shoot to that!

I have the cheap Marlin xs with the camou stock. 1.5 inch grp at 100 yrds with Winchester 140 gr supreme ballistic tip.

Those are all pretty good choices. If money was no object, I would vote for the Winchester.

The Remington would be my #2 with the Savage guns after that. I had a Savage 110 (30-06) and it while it was one of the least refined guns I have owned, it was Very accurate.

I'm not trying to add to your list but I currently hunt with a Browning A-bolt in 7mm08 and I like it a lot.

It looks like the X-bolt would fit your needs as well. If it were me, I would go for either the M70 or the X-bolt, both are excellent rifles. For the record, I really like a box mag for hunting, it makes loading and unloading quick, easy and quiet.

I love the Winchester M70. What is the quality like with the newer ones?

None of them. Weatherby Vanguard S2 would be my clear choice. I have three of them.

I have two FN Winchester M70 Featherweights, in 243 and 30-06. They're excellent.

I've killed a lot of deer with my Model 700 in 7mm-08. Got one last weekend walking across my shooting lane at about 220 yards. Best thing I ever did was drop in a Jewell trigger. Any misses are absolutely on me...

My dad asked me to help site in his Sako Finnlight in 7mm-08 over Thanksgiving. I was amazed how light it was but, man, it kicked like a mule. I shoot a Cooper in 300 Win Mag a lot and I'd take it any day over that little 08... I couldn't believe the difference in felt recoil from that super light rifle...

Of the guns listed, I would go with the Savage based on their reputation for above average accuracy. I have a Savage Model 16 Weather Warrior in 7mm-08 as does my brother. Both are very accurate.

There was a time that I wouldn't own a Savage because they were cheap, ugly rifles. In recent years, Savage has become my go to brand just because they are accurate and so easy to rebarrel.

The only 7-08 I have is a model seven. I bought it because it cost more than I wanted to spend at the time to rebarrel another rifle to 7BR.
