As I said in my other thread I was considering buying myself my first handgun, I came out of the auction with a S&W 19 for $550! Got myself a box of 158 grain bullets and put a few through it tonight, shoots great and looks amazing. I plan on keeping this one forever :)

Very nice! You will enjoy that gun for the rest of your life, not only because it is a sweet shooting Smith & Wesson Model 19 Combat Magnum and can drive tacks all day long, but because it is also your first handgun.

My first handgun was a Model 19 with 4" barrel just like yours only mine is in blue, not nickel. Bought it in 1980 and it is still the gun I shoot the best, and I'll never be without it.
 
That's a beauty!!

My first pistol purchase (non black powder) when I turned 21 in 1977 was a nickle S&W 19. It was identical to this in every way. I still have it today. I still shoot it once per month. It still looks pretty good.
