As I said in my other thread I was considering buying myself my first handgun, I came out of the auction with a S&W 19 for $550! Got myself a box of 158 grain bullets and put a few through it tonight, shoots great and looks amazing. I plan on keeping this one forever :)

Oh, and here are some pics:

Very nice! You will enjoy that gun for the rest of your life, not only because it is a sweet shooting Smith & Wesson Model 19 Combat Magnum and can drive tacks all day long, but because it is also your first handgun.

My first handgun was a Model 19 with 4" barrel just like yours only mine is in blue, not nickel. Bought it in 1980 and it is still the gun I shoot the best, and I'll never be without it.

Got one in blue myself. Was part of my Dad's collection.

Oh, very nice. A 4" Model 19 is at the top of my wish list. That gun looks to be in near mint condition.

Spent a few bucks on more ammo today and put it through it paces at 20 yards with some cheap 38s and more 357s. Wow, that was a lot of fun!

    That's a beauty!!

My first pistol purchase (non black powder) when I turned 21 in 1977 was a nickle S&W 19. It was identical to this in every way. I still have it today. I still shoot it once per month. It still looks pretty good.
