Pink handguns....for the lady

Fair enough, but most badguys know a glock when they look at one... if its black. They won't know its a glock if its pink. They'll think you got it from the toy store.

the pink M&P...
http://www.tactical-life.com/online/products/smith-wessons-mp9-jg-julie-goloski/

smith is donating a portion of each sale to breast cancer awareness. This is the first autoloader my wife ever expressed an interest in (she's always been a strictly revolver lady) specifically for that fact.
She actually makes fun of pink guns, but i noticed she kept the pink grip instead of swapping it for the black and is calling it her DIP (deadly in pink).
The warren tactical rear sight and fiber optic front are great too.

"If that didnt happen every day we wouldnt have pistols of all kinds of colors and finishes everywhere.
Not much different than a guy choosing between a pistol in parkerized, blued, nickel, etc. Or choosing to change the grips on his pistol because he likes the way another set looks.
Get her what she wants, the more she likes it... the more likely she is to get out and practice with it.

Jim"

Well I think it is dumb to have your 1st concern be the color of the gun. Buy the gun you want based on caliber, action size, finish then lastly color. out of all the different factors in deciding a gun, the color is going to be the easies to choose.

If the difference for the OP is his GF carries a pink .22 or a black or chrome .38/.357 I think everyone here would tell them to get the large caliber weapon.
I for one don't give a damn what color my gun is. I care about the quality of the finish before the color. I'm not looking at the thing all day long. It is sitting in a holster in my pants.

Thats the reason we got a 1911 in .45acp for my wife, and the appearance changes to come later. ;)
Also... a pistol a person is comfortable with, happy with... will be much more likely to be practiced with and/or carried.
Not the way "I" think, but if she likes the .22 and doesnt like the .357... which one do you think she will be more likely to use?
I NEVER advocate a .22 for carry or defense, but its better then cussing and crying at an attacker.

Taurus makes a 9mm in pink, they also put pink grips on their M85.
Because women are buying more guns, and shooting more, companies are starting to sell more "visually appealing" guns for them. There are more options out there than just .22's. DuraCoat is also an option. I really can't understand so many people getting all bent outta shape on a woman wanting *gasp* a pink gun. It is really NO different than a XD40 in olive, or ordering custom grips. It is all about making YOUR gun visually appealing to you. Otherwise companies wouldn't sell 47million different grips.

Exactly Caryn.
She wants a pink gun, I'll get her a pink one.

One thing I've taught her is never pull a gun unless you intend to use it.
As far as looking fake, I personally think most of the polymer handguns look like toys. A lot of people can pick out a Glock from a toy, but I've seen some convincing airsoft guns.

IF something happens that requires her to draw her fake-looking pink gun, the color doesn't harm the function.

hi its the girlfriend here! and yes i want a pink hand gun, not because im a sissy or anything. Thats just my style, and its different. How many ppl do you know that has a pink gun? How many do you know that has a black or chrome hand gun? and like my boyfriend said the color doesnt harm the function.

If it take pink guns to get women interested, then make more pink guns. I'm not fond of pink but my harley hat and gun store logo hat are both pink...on purpose. Considering how many OD green, desert sand, camoflauge, chrome, stainless and satin finish guns and rather bold grips I've seen, then pink shouldn't be a problem. Manufacturers have finally gotten the message that women will buy guns they like. Notice the quantity of guns with adjustable grips, backstraps, palmswells and such to fit people with small hands. Real men may not wear pink, but please don't dis' the pink.

I bought a EAA Pink 45acp PLady Witness compact pistol about 8 yrs ago a Pink Laminated stocked Ruger 10/22 last year , a Pink .22 single shot Cricket this past summer and I carry a blue Kel-Tec 32 acp for my CCW . My wife don't care for them much she really likes the tu-tone silver black look better.

i'm firmly in the "if she wants a pink gun, get her one" camp.

a similar situation...
it's become quite clear when my wife looks over my shoulder at gunbroker or auction arms, that she prefers nickel revolvers with pearl or ivory grips. no that she won't use others. she has no gun phobia whatsoever, and a blued .357 stays by her side of the bed at night. but when she finally gets her own CCW (probably this spring), it's quite likely that we'll be purchasing a nickel model 36 or detective special. and if it doesn't already have pearl grips, you can bet i'm going to track some down. why? because i know she'll like it more than the blued version, and that'll mean she'll want to practice more.

hey...i'm no different. i think parkerized is kinda ugly. functional, yes, but not at all attractive. however, the same gun in a deep blue or bright stainless finish really catches my eye. there's nothing wrong with getting a gun you will enjoy for its aesthetic appeal as well as its function.

on the subject of pollies, for sure KelTec makes a pink something. I could swear I saw one model at a gun shop in pink, blue, lime green, and gray.

Saw this site mentioned on another site:

So long as they don't donate to the racket for exploitation of breast cancer (Susan G Korman) it's just a matter of tacky taste, put it up there with "takticool" camo jobs.

It seems like, in a SD trial, a prosecutor could have a hayday with the whole pink gun thing....

"Thinks guns are toys"
"She dressed up an evil killing machine"
"There is nothing cute about guns, but the defendant seems to think otherwise"

I personally would avoid anything besides some nice grips on an SD gun. A pink gun could really give the impression that one was making light of the power of a gun.

I see nothing wrong with it myself, but I try to avoid anything that could make me look bad in front of a jury in case, God forbid, I ever had to use a gun in SD.

"Mr. Prosecutor, glad you asked about the pink gun. It made me absolutely sick to my stomach to even have to consider the taking of a human life, years ago, when I first considered getting a gun for self defense. I was against killing, for any reason. Then I had a friend/acquaintance/co-worker/ person I cared about (fill in the blank) get murdered/raped/assaulted/ paralyzed (fill in the blank) by an armed assailant. It was then that I had to force myselft into preparing for the worst. I was still afraid of guns, but my friend/boyfriend/husband (fill in the blank) got me some pink grips for the gun. It just made it easier to learn....I didn't fear the gun as much".....etc, etc. You just have to know how to respond to the questions you will be asked. Duh.................

My girlfriend has ONLY pink guns she has a sig mosquito in .22lr and a M&P in 9mm the M&P is one of the Julie G editions with the pink backstrap.

I don't think pink guns are in good taste unless they are engraved with the words "Save the Boobs".

I'm not sure what the "save the boobs" people (I's a breast cancer fundraising slogan...what did you think?) would say about that though.

Oh wow...been a little while since this thread has surfaced.

Well, the said "girlfriend" that is referred to in the first post can get her own damn pink handgun, or get that guy she ran off with to get it for her.

I might pink out the Bersa 380 I had bought for her to keep in her apartment, just in spite and for mom to have a "custom" job. Maybe the new "lady friend" will take up an interest in firearms.

You can buy a kit from brownells or Midway and do it yourself, if I ever did something like that I'd strip it and paint the frame and slide, then put the original grips back on. Oct. would be the month to give to your mom (the B cancer month) or save it for Xmas.

Sorry it didn't work out for you Bang Bang. As far as the pink gun thing I kinda figure if a gun being pink will encourage a woman to train with & carry it I'm not gonna criticize it.

Hubs are tools not toys. However they can be stylish at the same time. A pair of pink grips can give a gun a more femine look that she may enjoy. Plus you can always replace them with black or wood grips if she decides not to carry it or practice with it.
