Just to give some idea of how tough bears can be. 1967 in Idaho myself and a relative were charged by a small 180 lb female black bear. She turned out to be blind and starving. It took (7) 30-30, (4)8mm, and (6) .357 to drop her. Once they start moving they are TOUGH to stop.
