Howdy, just joined you site. Love it.

I wanted to post this info. I have sent Pizza Hut an email letting them know how i feel about their decision, and that I will never darken their door again and will spread the word to family and friends.

Here is the article from the NRA Armed Citizen report...

Armed Citizen
Pizza Hut deliveryman James Spiers thought he was making a routine delivery, but he was walking into an ambush. As Spiers approached, an armed man sprang at him with a gun, but Spiers, a concealed-carry permit holder, was no easy target. Police say Spiers struggled hard with the assailant until he was able to produce his handgun. “It was a long ordeal ... my life was, without a doubt, in danger,” Spiers recalls. Spiers shot the suspect three times. The suspect fled and was arrested at the hospital. Pizza Hut summarily fired Spiers, a 10-year employee, citing a corporate policy forbidding employees from carrying firearms. To voice your displeasure, call Pizza Hut Corporate Offices at 800-948-8488 or visit pizzahut.com.

pizzahut is part of pepsico and they have a very liberal policy with their corporate giving. Will not say where their giving goes but you can "read between the lines" that a conservative would not approve of them. A friend(lady) worked in a convenience store and carried in an IBH that was hidden. The owner saw it as they were stocking one night and she was told not to bring it back. She told him where he could go. The store has been robbed twice since then.

My parents have a store with a Coke machine out front. A Pepsi rep came by and asked if they'd like a Pepsi machine as well. My father explained in his best diplomatic way that he knew Pepsi supported gun control and there was no way he'd ever allow Pepsi crap on the property.

The rep said that Pepsi lost a lot of business because of that. ;)

Pizza Hut isn't owned by Pepsico anymore. It, along with KFC and Taco Bell were spun off from Pepsico a few years ago. It is now part of Yum! Brands, Inc. (formerly Tricon Global Restaurants)

It happened several months ago. A half a dozen Mom & Pop pizza restaraunts offered Mr. Spiers jobs before Pizza Slut let him go and several R2KBA supporters expressed their displeasure at Pizza the Hut

Old news.

But, GLAD to see a "call this number and raise hell" in the Armed Citizen. We need MORE of that.

Pizza Hut used to be part of Tricon--along with Taco Bell and KFC (formerly Kentucky Fried Chicken). The name change to Yum! occurred about the same time they acquired Long John Silvers and A&W Root Beer.

While Pepsico does not own Yum! Brands, they are the majority stockholder by way of individual Pepsico executives . . . it's a convoluted process how this came to be, but Pepsico has incredible influence over Yum! Brands.

Of all the people who should carry a firearm, pizza delivery people should be near the top of the list. They're very common (and vulnerable) targets for robberies or worse.

Thanks for the post and the phone number. It got me off my duff to call the Pizza Hut and let them know I'd tell my friends and neighbors to buy pizza elsewhere.

These corporations have policies and training to ensure in case of Armed Robbery/Terriorism, their employees are passive and unresisting .

Why?

Because if the Robbers/Terriorists kill employees, the Company has no liability. The deaths are just a law enforcement matter. However, if an employee hurts a bad guy, well there is the potential of a lawsuit.

They are just protecting their profits.

It is amoral, but not illegal.

THE MIGHTY BUCK!

About 15 years ago 3 Pizza Hut employees in Tucson were murdered in the store after hours by 3 punks. I have often wondered what if one or all three employees had hand guns, CCW, it might have been a better ending.

It is better to be alive and looking for a job then to have some corporate head pretending to care and telling my widow that I was a good employee. :fire:
