First, I am not posting this in the Activism forum on principle. At present, I still consider this video project to be a made-for-profit, just like the other videos in my show are. With the knowledge of that, if the mods still believe this fits the purpose of the Activism forum, they can move it.

With that out of the way, yeah, I'm starting to set up for filming a video in response to the Brady campaign's assault clips video. It'll be my first video project filmed in Anchorage.

Here's the planned layout of the video:

1: A gun owner loading up high-cap mags with the brady campaign's 'little girl' target in the background, and a voiceover imitating the Brady Campaign, leading up to 'Ammunition feeding devices that can hold over 30 rounds can only be used for-'
2: Immediately cutting to a montage of footage of them being used for legitimate, and identifiable purposes. Competition, recreation, defense, etc.
3: Then cutting back to the gun owner, seating the 30 round magazine and chambering the first round. Then standing between the litle-girl target and a large amount of bad-guy targets.

The idea for the gun owner armed with a high-capacity firearm, protecting the litle girl target came from a THR member who posted on one of the existing assault clips threads, but I can't remember who it was.

Anyways, what I'm looking for is footage and/or images of people using high-capacity magazines for that montage sequence. I don't mean google image search either, although I'll use that in a pinch if I have to. I mean images and videos of you guys, THR members, using high cap magazines for specific purposes. So the video or images need to show clearly that you're shooting a 3-gun match, or, etc.

I do need to make it clear though. Do NOT contribute to this expecting any form of monetary compensation. Yes, my videos are for-profit, but the plain truth of the matter is, that so far my videos have made less than $50 total in advertising revenue. That's mainly because I've been focusing on producing videos rather than promoting them, but the fact remains that I have recouped $50 vs the roughly $4000 I invested to start my video series, so I'm literally in no position to be paying any of you for your images or footage.

If you're still willing to help me make this video, with these conditions in mind, send me a PM so we can figure out the best way to send me the video footage in a format I can edit.

Thanks in advance, THR.

Sounds like a fun idea. While I can't help with footage or ideas I'm always here to be a critic! Good luck to you and your project.

This was just brought up by a friend of mine. It would also help to have images or videos from those with disabilities that prevent them from being able to reload a firearm quickly.

It's the brady bunch, just knock off their youtube footage,
Oh, I would add that Mr. Brady was wounded by a 6 shot .22 revolver.

I don't want to just knock off their footage. I am going to be filming the majority of this myself. And if I have to, I'll use Google image search and grab FLVs off of youtube or something, but I guess I'd just like to see what the THR community can put together regarding legitimate uses of high cap magazines.

Plus, I genuinely enjoy putting in the effort in making my videos, particularly since they're for-profit.

I like this idea. You may include someone running a stage from an IPSC or USPSA match in the "can be used for" segment. Those guys typically use full capacity (15-18rd) mags unless the class limits it, usually run for 30-60 seconds, and can show the antis watching how fast someone can reload if they practice a little.

Also, maybe show a situation where a family gets "killed" by a group of thugs because daddy's gun is at slide lock and bad guys are still standing, then show another where he uses a full cap mag and takes out the remaining 2-3 BGs.

I would start with what you are talking about, then bring in the point that it doesn't matter what type of mag, how many are in it, etc. that a weapon is a weapon

I would progress though their rhetoric and end up with

'this is what the brady bunch wants you to defend your self with' and show NOTHING

That's good

I like what Shadow7 said, except of showing nothing I would use the sound of a 911 operator saying 911 can I help you? hello is there anyone there? 911 how can I help you? 911 whats your emergency?. Then a female voice in a whisper saying Please help...Oh my God he's in my room....then dial tone.

Crossrhodes - Awesome imagery. That would get many of the on-the-fence females into the shooting range.

Sorry if you've answered this elsewhere but I don't have the time or energy at this hour to search previous posts.....are your videos for web or broadcast? If for broadcast you will have a difficult time finding hi-rez videos on the web. And by hi-rez I'm talking even standard def let alone high def. And if you are going to download videos for a for-profit/political project, you better be prepared to track people down to sign releases.

I can send you some footage of loading a mag but not shooting. I don't get to the range much any more and it's always by myself so I can't shoot and "shoot" at the same time.

Tell me what resolution, frame rate, and delivery format you want. And a time frame for when you want it.

I don't think I'm taking this one to as dark a place as crossrhodes' suggestions. Not this particular video at least.

MOST of this video, I'm going to be filming up here myself. That part is basically all going to be staged and edited for effect. All I'm looking for is footage and/or images of people USING high-capacity magazines in IPSC, 3-Gun, etc. so I can use it in the montage showing people using high-capacity mags for things other than 'making everyone a target'.

I would add in the fact that you can take most standard 10 round mags and increase them to 30 rounds or more with either a kit or a dremel tool if you are mechanically inclined.

Minor thread necro.

It looks like I won't be able to start production on this until about a month away from now.

My question is, is it still an issue worth a response to?

When the whole assault clips thing came out, it seemed like the start of a new Brady-led media blitzkrieg like we saw before the 1994 AWB, but it looks to me like this one's kind of sputtered and died.

It'll be back in a couple weeks, months, or a year or two. I was reading a book called The Honest Politicians Guide to Crime Control that was published around 1970 and the authors spent half a chapter calling for licensing and registration of long guns, ban on handguns except for security guards, police, military, etc., limits on how much ammo you can buy or possess at one time, and so on. Some things never change.
