I still say a 1 yr sentence is what he will get. Wanna bet

i guess this is one of those examples of a reason to carry without one chambered you guys are always asking for.

Except this dude was carrying in a pocket/waistband, without a holster. I'm unaware of anybody here who's every recommended against or even said you don't need a holster if you're carrying.

Lots of feedback being shared on this topic. Some point out the idiacy of Plaxico for failing to follow the law, others seem determined to find fault with the law itself. Truth is both are idiotic... NJ and NY both have unconstitutional laws resticting 2A rights, and Plexico is stupid for handling a weapon in an unsafe manner. Morover, he's a moron for carrying his weapon in a club in the first place. Regardless of laws, we all know better than to fiddle with weapons when drinking. This ass figured such common sence shouldn't apply to him. I guess he's not the first to fall to a case of NFL Big Shot-itis. I say lock him up and throw away the key before he hurts someone else -- Good riddens!!

So, amend the charges to something along the lines of unlawful discharge of a firearm and/or reckless endangerment and/or whatever intoxication based charges (if any) are appropriate and we're all fine?

I don't understand some of the responses. Almost everyone here agrees that guns are not the culprit and that the people carrying them are. We agree that there should be criminal control instead of gun control. But we have a man here who violates the law with a firearm, and some here don't think he should be in trouble. This is a perfect example of where the gun community should suck it up and stand in agreement with the law (in this case), and not come across as hypocrits by standing up for a criminal. How you say that you support criminal control and then stand up for a criminal who uses a gun?
