Plex gets 2 years after plea....

Thoughts on this? I think he got off light. He could have gone away for 10 years. I cannot stand guys like this who make lawful gun owners look bad. I have no love for NYC guns laws but Plex was stupid.

NEW YORK -- Facing the prospect of spending at least 3½ years behind bars, one-time Super Bowl star Plaxico Burress on Thursday accepted a plea bargain with a two-year prison sentence for accidentally shooting himself in the thigh at a Manhattan nightclub.

The former New York Giants wide receiver pleaded guilty to one count of attempted criminal possession of a weapon, a lesser charge than he had faced. He will be sentenced Sept. 22, and lawyer Benjamin Brafman said he expects Burress to begin serving his sentence immediately after.

The irony is being a celebrity, he could have got permits for NY & NJ...and he could afford some good leather.

He shouldn't have been charged with anything, other than discharging a firearm in a populated area.

I think that a bullet in the thigh is sufficient punishment.

I don't give a rat's behind about the NFL or anyone in it, but I don't think ANYONE should face PRISON time for what I do almost every day.

Obviously not.

I don't have any desire to go to any New York nightclubs, armed or not.

But in Idaho, I can legally carry in bars and all hell has yet to break loose here.

Illegally transferred his own gun? In most places, there's nothing illegal about transporting your own gun from place to place.

Or did he buy it across state lines, illegally?

I see ArmedBear's point that it should be allowable certainly, but this is reality.

NYC is probably one of the most well known "no no" places to stick a gun in your pants and walk around. To do it anyway shows a level of arrogance and stupidity that is hard to imagine. Then shooting himself because of a TOTAL lack of care just adds to it.
