Have had both the P3AT and P-11 for a couple of years,...carry the P3AT clipped all that time IWB with never a hitch or a drop. Same with the P-11 though it is heavier,....and the belt clips work for me, When in "heavier attire" I often holster it,..but just as comfortable IWB with the belt clip. Neat thing about the Keltec P-11 as well,..I have a Marlin Camp 9 Carbine that uses the same mag, ......the S&W model 59 series. (Can you say P-31?) Ugly as sin,...but it works.....lol

How big of a concern is rimlock with the Keltec 32? Is it specific to certain ammo or can it occur with any ammo?

Never had a problem when I had my P32. It's the hollowpoints that are going to have a problem because they are shorter in overall length. Kel-Tec sells a spacer you can put along the back of the magazine that takes up the extra space and prevents the rounds from shifting. You could also make your own and they are easily removed should you want to switch to FMJ rounds.

Kahr PM-9

I like the feel of my PM-9 and, while it's not quite as concealable as a P3AT or LCP, it's close and has the advantage of being 9mm. More punch and cheaper ammo. But.......if you get a PM-9 make sure you get it broke in and it proves to be reliable. Mine isn't. I went to the range Wednesday and only fired 16 rounds. 4 FTF. That's a total of 386 rounds with almost 50 issues. Kahr should have it in their hands as I write this. I've talked to them twice and so far I'm indifferent to their customer service. Also, I'm not too happy about a $58.00 shipping bill since they refused to cover it. I'm keeping a positive attitude but that will change if it comes back still unreliable.
Jocko, obviously you've had great sucess with yours and it takes anything you feed it. The first thing anybody tells me is to try different ammo. I've tried Winchester, Remington, Federal, Independance and CCI. No difference. I'm assuming that you've shot different brands in yours.
At this time I'm looking for an older S&W 60 (pre-lock and 38 spl only) or if I get lucky, a no lock 642. I carried a 60 for years and 95% of the time the exposed hammer was not an issue. If the Kahr comes back and works I'd be a happy camper and it will probably be my main ccw. If not, I'll know a trusty Smith will be there for me and I'll try my home remedies on the Kahr.

Ask Kahr to give you a different PM9 with your old serial number on it. I've seen where they have done it before. Do everything you can to get a reliable PM9 because, as you already know, they make fantastic carry pistols. I love mine. A lot of people say to avoid the early serial numbers, but mine is in the VA range, which was the first lot and it's perfectly reliable. It was a little "sticky" at first and I had a few times where it didn't go fully into battery, but that was all cleared up in the first 100 rounds. I can even slingshot the first round easily every time.

You can get an FEG PA63 and a NAA in .22 or .22mag for the same price you can get a khar or seecamp or glock. Most likely cheaper.

No offense, but this is a recession. Again, that is my $0.02 but that is what I have done, no complaints at all.

How big of a concern is rimlock with the Keltec 32? Is it specific to certain ammo or can it occur with any ammo?
It's not a big concern, and it's prone to happening with shorter ammunition (I think because there's more room for movement in the magazine then), IIRC- never had the problem myself. Just load FMJ in there for penetration, run a box through it to test, and you should be fine.

You can read more about rimlock here.

Racinbob - the OP had a $400 price limit I thought? ... PM9 is out of that category but I agree it's real nice.

mtb2001 you're kidding right? A PA-63 is too big for most to pocket carry and a .22Mag is hardly a good SD round. And we are not in a recession. Either way a Kel-Tec P32 or P3AT is a better SD choice for one gun at the price of a PA63 IMHO.

the OP had a $400 price limit I thought?

I've seen new ones for $500-550 and I got mine for $525 out the door.

If he looks hard enough, I'll bet he can find a used one for right around $400. Better yet, skip the pizza, beer, cigarettes, booze, etc money for a couple of weeks (if he indulges in that stuff) and he'll have more than enough saved to make up the difference for a new one.

Another plus for the PM9 is commonality of ammo with his G19 and it's cheaper than the smaller stuff like .32, .380, etc.

And we are not in a recession

Every economic indicator would disagree with you. The politicians haven't santioned the word yet, so I guess we will just leave that lie, as either has as much veracity as the other.

The PA63 is approximately the same size as a Walther PP / PPK, which is considered a "pocket gun" it is larger, but carry in the waist band of shorts and a tank and it is very very concealable.

The purpose of a concealable gun isn't to win gunfights, but to threaten. Anyone will tell you that. Handguns suck as man stoppers. That isn't to say they are not effective, but people have soaked up 9mm / 40 / 45's and kept on coming, so anything smaller than those is already walking a thin line. NO ONE IN THEIR RIGHT MIND wants to get shot though and (IMO) either it works or it doesn't and if that is the case, it was your time to pay the piper.

I am not saying that those cover all the options, but certainly gets 2 guns for the price of 1. There are cases when the only gun that someone can be armed with is a NAA .22 mag or the like. Gives you some versatility, answers the call in the mean time and you can always get another gun. Of course you can get something else and follow this advice later as well, but it certainly is an option and the OP knows whether or not it would work for him.

Don't go with a Kel-Tec. They are too hit or miss. I had a PF-9, total garbage. I bought a Kahr k40, it nice and small its a 40cal but I would stick with the cw series if you want to keep your pants up. I did however recently purchase a Ruger LCP. Its never failed on me. Side by side comparison with my buddies Kel-Tec p3at, they are almost the same. My Ruger has a slide lock though. If you're into that. I love my LCP. Check them out before you knock them.

Kel-Tecs are okay and, if they aren't out of the box, you can either do a "fluff and buff" polishing or send it to Kel-Tec. A good, reliable running P3AT makes an excellent "anywhere" pistol. I have two, a first and second gen, and they both work fine. Went through hell and back with the 1st gen, but it runs well now. I also have a P11 and never had a single malfunction with it, but it has that horrible trigger so I never carry it.

And the Ruger "slide lock" is more of a "slide hold open" because it's manually operated and it will not lock back on an empty magazine.

I have never had it happen with FMJ... anyway, JHP's don't even expand in this caliber so there is no point in using them. The P32 is a great pocket gun, and less annoying to shoot than the P3AT (IMO). My P32 has performed 100% since day one using Fiocci 73gr FMJ. I definitely recommend it.

Mexican carry is not a good thing!!!

I am looking for a new pistol in which I can just stick in the waist band of my shorts when I need to do a quick grocery run

Unless you are OK with having a loaded pistol pointed at Mr. Johnson!!! :what:

My "go to the local stop and rob for an impulse buy" gun is this:

Pocket carry is safer!!! ;)

I guess you mean "sanctioned" and "voracity".

The common definition of a "recession" is two consecutive quarters of negative GDP growth.

We are not in a recession. It's not something politicians declare or "santion". Politicians only mention "recession" when they are trying to get elected.

Maybe you should believe as much about what the media reports of the economy as you do about what they report concerning gun violence and gun control.

I carry everything I carry cw at 4 o'clock,...just behind the right hip,...and it's never pointed at anything more valuable on my anatomy than my hind end, ...with a round in the tube,....ALWAYS. The Keltec belt clips are sturdy, and I check them every time I clean the piece. I don't consider it "Mexican Carry",...as the belt clip keeps the piece from dropping into my britches and down the leg. Belt holds it snug and tight. I work in the woods a lot,...around the house, and around vehicles, in and out. Have not had a hitch or glitch with either piece (P3AT or P-11). Preferences vary,...but don't knock it until you try it. For me,...the pocket holster carry just doesn't feel right.

The nice thing about pocket carry is you can have your hand already on the pistol and partially drawn with a good grip if you suspect something is about to go down or you're walking across a parking lot at night, etc. You won't look out of place as someone casually strolling along with a hand(s) in their pocket(s).

Main Entry: ve·rac·i·ty
Pronunciation: \və-ˈra-sə-tē\
Function: noun
Inflected Form(s): plural ve·rac·i·ties
Date: circa 1623
1 : devotion to the truth : truthfulness
2 : power of conveying or perceiving truth
3 : conformity with truth or fact : accuracy
4 : something true <makes lies sound like veracities>

Further to that, I work in commodities, so my opinion is as valid as the idiots on the noob box. Anyway, as I said, each has as much "truth" as the other. Economists will debate whether we are experiencing the R word for years, but I can tell you this, the dollar's slide and the increase in produce prices and oil prices are leading to people having to eat one meal a day in certain parts of the world...

Just one more thing, they don't "publish" the same indicators that they did in the 80's... They focus (selectively) on other areas... Voracity has something to do with hunger / greed BTW. "I have a voracious appetite" "The dog ate with voracity after being trapped in the cave for 2 days" "That lawyer has a voracius billing department that operates with a single minded voracity"

I have never had a failure in my P32, even in the first magazine. The damn thing does spit unburned powder like crazy though. After shooting a magazine, my hands look like I just got done pulling weeds!

Hi Florida CC pistols...

Hi there;
If I were in your shoes, I'd look into the HK P-2000sk LEM model in either .357sig or maybe 9mmNATO. This well made compact pistol has ambi-controls and can take a white light/laser aimer too, ;). The .357sig model would be tops but the 9mmNATO maybe be cheaper to practice with/use.

Another solid choice would be the small but powerful SIG-sauer P-239 DAK model. This also should be in .357sig or if you buy it, the 9mmNATO load.
SIG P-239s are robust and can be had with a sweet CT lasergrip; www.lasersights.com . ;)
A laser aimer may come in handy if you need to fire one-handed or want improved marksmanship.

These weapons are not cheap but are well worth it over the lower cost models that may crap out or break with ease....
PS: for scammo, get a Speer Gold Dot .357sig 125gr JHP or CorBon load. In 9mmNATO, get either the Winchester Ranger 127gr JHP +P+, Speer Gold Dot 124gr JHP +P, or the well designed Remington Golden Saber +P JHP, bonded.

To CoRoMo: The belt clip for the P-11 is straight from Keltec,...available in both blue and stainless when I got mine. I actually like the way it mounts better than the one on the P3AT. In any case,...both work well for me. I occasionally carry the P-11 in a "minimalist" style generic rig OWB as well. BTW,...for those who wonder,...my call sign,.."Thunder173" came from the last century,....not this one. I have been carrying and using sidearms for 40+ years,...of many kinds, caliber's and configurations. Never an ND/AD in all those years,...though I will confess I have dropped a piece or two down my pant leg over the years trying that pure "Mexican Carry"......(We use to just wrap rubber bands around the grips to prevent slippage),....it worked. At least most of the time..... :)

If you use some basic bargaining skills, you can now find new Seecamp LWS32s for about $450. Throw this in your pocket with some Speer Gold Dots and you won't even know it's there. Good luck in your quest! (BTW, I'm a Floridian too!)

I stand corrected on the spelling of "veracity".

I stand firm that this is not a recession. People in "some parts of the world" notwithstanding.
