Popularity of Utah gun permits puts hole in budget

OT, but silly irony:

"...Steve Gunn, a Salt Lake lawyer who is on the board of the Gun Violence Prevention Center of Utah..."

An even sillier irony: the Florida sectretary who signs CCW permits is Charles "Death Wish" Bronson.

OK, I added the "Death Wish" part...

xd9fan,

Just wait, it's inevitable. To get/renew at the DPS a drivers license in Houston, you give them fingerprints. I didn't figure it out until now, but last time I renewed, I tried to do it online but it said that I couldn't. That's when I got fingerprinted. Jus tthis month though, I was able to renew online. Hmmm. It was both thumbs IIRC.

It's hard for an Illinois resident to go wrong with a Florida license or a Utah license. I know people who have both.

Add me to that list, I also have both along with Pensylvania and New Hampshire so I am pretty good for travel, especially for an Illinois resident. Florida will issue a non-resident to anyone meeting their standards, but will not honor any n-r from any other state. I have in-laws in Florida so I needed that one, but when Minnesota got CCW they do not honor Fla. but do honor n-r Utah. I also have in-laws there and will be there in Augst.
Yes, you must take care to learn the specific rules for each state you travel in but it is not that hard. Once you get used to being able to carry for your protection you just don't feel the same in states where you can't. No, we are not moving to another state, but when we go motorcycle riding we head straight for Indiana. Jim.

I have both a Florida and Utah license. I also have New York and Maine. Pennsylvania and New Hampshire were the first two I applied for and recieved.

I encourage everyone to apply for Florida and Utah.

I told my wife about this thread last night. And she had an idea. :)

If any of you out of state guys want to get a Utah permit, and you get a big enough group together to pay for my vacation, I'll fly out there and teach you. :p
