I've started a list

I've wrote down eveyone's username on a piece of paper, but have not put out a message just yet due to pesky work and trying to get a jeep back together, maybe sometime this week or next.

I'll try to suggest a calendar day, a certain saturday or sunday every month (2nd saturday of the month at noon at browns camp gravel pit for example) to allow people to just show up regardless of whether or not I can make it. It'll be a start and will fit some people's schedule to get the ball rolling, once that starts, we can adjust accordingly.

If anyone can make it on Thursdays and Fridays, please shout, I work odd days in the silicon industry.

This is the place I usually go shoot as well. Getting to the gravel pit is EASY as pie. Just go in and follow the gravel road all the way up from the highway, if the are any T sections just make a right hand turn, and you will get to it. Last time I only picked up my own brass, but there are people who go up there and pickup all the brass they can for scrap metal. I have done this at other outdoor ranges. Next time I'm bringing a shovel with me, and I'll just seperate the steel cases and shotshells from all the brass. Last time in just 15 minutes of picking up rifle brass I ended up with about 10-15 pounds. Someone stole it outta the back of my truck but oh well. I'm all for something like this. Maybe at the regular monthly shoots everyone picks up the brass and someone takes it in for ther scrap and the money goes into a fund, for whatever. Maybe for the targets for the competition, or maybe to use as donations to help keep Browns Camp open for ALL to use. At browns camp it's one of those symbiotic things. If the OHV trails close, so will the gravel pit. When I go I like to go shooting and wheeling.

Oh yeah if anyone wants to contact me directly use redneck_chevy_psychopath at yahoo dot com
Sorry for the cryptic way of doing the email address but don't need no spam bots nabbing it. I also use that name in yahoo messenger so if you want to add me just do so and let me know you are from THR I ahve a special section in my messenger for people from gun forums called gunny types.

Hey, Michael. Saw you on another forum I just signed up on. Sounds like a capital idea. We can clean up the place, at least on fair days. Some of us could use the brass in certain calibers to handload I'm sure. If this catches on, we may have to pick a name for the group...something not too derogatory...

Mark, what forum was it? If it's a gun forum, it might be mine. LOL. Oregon Gun Owners Forum. Sucks I can't even get to it right now, I lost the link to my own forum. LOL.

Oh. You all mean that other Portland; just south of that other Bangor. Oh well.

Beaverton Area

Hi,

I would like to get on the email list too for schedule when going out to Brown's Camp.

My buddy and I have usually shot at The Place To Shoot.
Good range to shoot at and really nice people who run the place.

Funny thing, I'm a marathon runner and so is one of the co-owners.
So we can talk guns & shooting, and also running !
Two of my favorite hobbies !

My small "arsenal" contains:

Glock 19
CZ-75B (9mm)
Marlin 60 .22 cal rifle (I love this thing, it's so fun to shoot !!!)

I just found this thread and would like to get in on this myself. I know Brown’s Camp well and shoot there all the time. I spend more time picking brass than shooting some days. With the weather steadily improving this is the time to set up a schedule. I’m in Beaverton so let me know if anyone wants to go. There is another pit in Timber but it is access challenged and might bee a better candidate then Brown’s Camp.

I sent notes, no one got back to me

I made a distro, sent it out, but no one got back to me but one or two. I plan on going to Brown's camp pit this week, probably Thursday, maybe Weds morning (I work night shift, get off early).

If anyone goes to this range this week, don't be shy, say hi, mention THR and maybe we can get this thing rolling.

Feel free to use the names listed here to try and put together plinking sessions in your respective neighborhoods. I don't expect someone in Molalla to trek all the way to Brown's camp in our current wet weather conditions considering it's 30 minutes from Hillsboro.

BTW, kudos for picking up the brass fellas. I do it to. As for the person who got it swiped from his truck, I suspect meth heads. Oh well, but still. I went out there early AM a month or two ago and two tweakers were out scrounging for brass. I was out there with 5 guns and felt a little nervous, but I did make a point to make them nonchalantly aware of my 45 on my side when I went out and setup targets. I locked the car, memorized a license plate, got a good look at them, etc before I went into the pit.

I just can't warm up to tweakers every since they stole my wife's 4-runner and destroyed it, abandoned it, and left a broken meth pipe in the back of the rig. Go figure.

Just found this post. I'm in Milwaukie, and looking for places to shoot. My boy is 7, and really wants to shoot my old 22, but the local gun club has a 12 year old minimum, so we're looking for a safe place to shoot. As a kid we would go to the local gravel pit (southern oregon), but around here it's kinda hard to find a place.
Could you add me to the list?

Thanks,
Eric

I would also be interested in shooting sometime, There are places to shoot up in estacada dont get to shoot enough in portland.

Never too good an idea to spill onto an open forum...too many trolls
Suffice to say my interest lies in historic US military smallarms of the 20th century. My interest exceeds my budget by a good margin, however.
