Since this site is still quite new, I think we should add to the data base a little. Everyone who has an expertise in a certain area (you don't have to be a real expert) should start a thread that gives as much info about that topic as possible.

There is a wealth of knowledge here and I am tired of having to go back to TFL to do searches. It would be nice if this site became THE online gun info referance place.

Its time to give back. We need your knowledge that has come from experience. Put some work into it and make it an informative thread.

Tell us all your tips and tricks and secrets that you have learned over the years.

Thanks for listening to my idea. Now go forth and inform!;)

Hmmm.. I've usually found that any self-proclaimed 'experts' usually aren't.
:D

In all seriousness, since I've only owned guns since I was 18, I probably don't have any really decent 'expertise' to share that isn't rehashed...

But it would be interesting to hear from the REAL experts, too bad Gale McMillian isn't around anymore, his articles were quite a read back on TFL....

An expert huh? Sounds like my cup of beer! :neener:

firestar, This forum will evolve in time. You forget that TFL started out small and the wealth of information was built up over time.

This forum started out large and there seems to be some getting started taking place. Once enough good questions are asked in the proper forums and answers both good and bad are given the knowledge base stored here will grow. The good info will be sorted from the bad and the posters of good info will become your experts.
Unfortunately, as Phyphor stated, Mr. Mac will not be around to answer any questions. None of us are getting any younger so you might want to become an expert at asking questions that you really seek answers to.

I will give it a shot!

Here is my $.02

One of the best things to use to clean off the thick packing grease found on C&R firearms as well as guns like the SAR AK variants use Simple Green. It will strip off all the grease in no time, it is really cheap, and it does not stink! The best thing is that your spouse will not try to kick you out since it makes the whole house stink like other cleaners!

I'm pretty expert at drinking beer and making the "perfect" vodka martini.

Everything else I'm just a humble scholar.

I'm good about worrying about the logistics of ammo and magazines..

I try to optimize my collection, to the minimum number of calibers while maintaining cross-compatibility.

That said.. I'm a cryptographer.. If you need to hide information from the government, PM me! I'll teach you how!

Privacy and 308Win's go together very well for most libertarians I know, including myself!

OK lets try...I could benefit from this.

oops I am a great speller (spellor?):D

I'm pretty good at Freecell. The key is to take your time and don't always go for the aces right off the bat.

You guys are being too modest. I put expert in quotes because I didn't expect people to consider themselves real experts. What I meant was, you know more than most on a subject and it is both rewarding and helpful to share.

I'm still trying to figure out how to transfer 200+ pages on "Evolution in Action - The Conversion of Muzzleloading Military Rifles to Single Shot Breechloaders" from 8 inch floppy to my new computer!:banghead:

Hey, How did you get Homer Simpson to do that?
Makdaddy03,

I was bored one night so I took some smileys along with a few images and pics and uploaded them to my free space aol offers. You get like 2MB I believe. Then I just copy and past the URL in here or any forum.

Like this dude as example, LOL. I thought he needed a gun and holster but then I realized he is CCW. ROFL

Hubel.... that is one mother of a round!!! Good example there maybe, even if we leave out the word ''expert'' ...... this is shall we say a ''speciality'' .... many can offer that even if not ''expert'' per se.

Oh and ..... M58
I am no stinking expert
I have to say the opposite .... in as much as my biggest area of expertize could well be when it comes to ''gas'' ... and boy, it can stink!!:D :D

That's an impressive looking wildcat Hubel ! Say 45/110 ?
No expert here, just trying to build my knowledge through the wealth available here at THR. If the subject didn't need to be RKBA related I might be able to pass off something like hotrodding big block chevys or drag race hayabusa's:p But shooting will always be my favorite sport !

Wildcatting is a specialty alright.

P95-Thanks for compliment on the round. And in the 3 years of working on it, plus many years of studying internal ballistics, you develope expertize.
Carlos-It is longer than that, being 3.45 inches.Rim is .532 same
as H&H, belt is .543, base just ahead of belt is .527, and headspace length is .235. It is for shape and taper, the extension of a 458 Win backwards for extra length and bigger base.Ed
