Out checking trail cams on my friends property. Still no bucks for about 3 weeks now. Just does & fawns and usually at night. Did get a few shots of a doe in broad daylight this past week. Most daytime shots are around mid-day. WGI_1573.JPG ... WGI_1604.JPG ...

Still a slow season, trail cam wise. Had a decent buck in the woods next to the house but haven't seen him in person or on trail cam in a couple months, until the wee hours of Mon. Oct 12th on a trail cam 110 yards out back. At least I'm seeing him again. Not getting anything on two cams at my friends place except an occasional doe or fawn. My "next door neighbor" buck looks like an 8 point and although the rack isn't exactly huge he's a big bodied guy. Too bad I'm not bow hunting this year because he lives in a bow only area although if I caught him across the road and 500 ft. back I could use a shotgun. WLD_0108.JPG . WLD_0109.JPG

Got a couple more "next door neighbor" bucks turn up on cameras. Nothing spectacular but after the last couple years I'm happy to see anything with a rack. This guy turned up this morning 110 yds. behind me. Didn't personally see him but the camera did. Would have been a better pic if not for the rain drops on the lens.......... WLD_0076.JPG .....Then this other buck got his picture taken just after 3 a. m. Sunday on the edge of the woods about 50 yds. away from the back deck........ WGI_2060.JPG ... Planning on checking two cams on my friends property tomorrow afternoon. Have only seen one small forkhorn out there along with lots of does and fawns. But the deer seem to be moving more lately so maybe that will change. Stay tuned.

UPDATE : Got pix of 3 different bucks at my friends place since last Friday. Looks like they are moving around more. It's that time of year for this to start happening. Only got a couple doe pix but several pix of this small buck on several different days, including a nice daytime close-up... WGI_1651.JPG . Got several shots of one a little bigger ...(all at night)... WGI_1663.JPG .... And a couple shots of the biggest of the 3 who only seems to cruise around at night. In that area they all seem to go nocturnal by November according to my trail cams.. WGI_1674.JPG . Can't complain too much because I'm seeing much more than I did last year at this time.

Got another "next door neighbor" buck that I've never seen before. Got him on trail cam at 5:11 a.m. this morning, ( Oct. 27th), coming out of the woods into our back yard. That trail cam is only about 50 yds back from the house so he's a real "local". Haven't seen him personally or on any of the 3 trail cams around here. The biggest bucks are the most seldom seen and always become almost totally nocturnal. At least around here according to my trail cams. Had a big buck like that last year and I'd almost bet this is the same one. So now there's at least two nice bucks next to me; unless there's some camera shy ones the trail cams haven't got yet....... WGI_2120.JPG

Checked the 2 cams in my friends woods this afternoon. Recently moved one and I'm getting more daytime pix now although the daytime pix are all does while the bucks are pretty much nocturnal. Got a doe permit for the area and here's a couple out in front of a blind, ( circled in the background).. My step daughter and her two kids love venison. Maybe I could fix her up this coming season.
