Powder is out there if you look around

I have been hitting some more out of the way places for powder just as a game. It has paid off over the last few weeks. I found 8 lbs of Herco one day for under $100 and 8 lbs of 800x for about $120 with tax.

I found 8 lbs of SR4756 (first time I have ever seen more than a 1 lb can of it) when I asked in another spot and get a steal of a price. 4756 is great in the Super and the 38/44, but they said no one wants it. My gain, others loss

I found 8 lbs of 2400 and 8 lbs of Win571 in another place and 4 lbs of Unique and Bullseye.

Fortunately another reloading buddy is helping me store the stash so I can keep my powder magazine below 50 lbs.

All we need to come up with is some Claydot and more IMR powders and I should be good for another 6 months or so. By the way, the total mean price for the powders was about $18/lb which seems pretty reasonable all said and done. Not the old days of $11/lb anymore.

I live 1 mile from Cabela's..... So when i NEED something... Ill stop in every other Day... and within a Week or So, i usualy Find It

I was pleased to find 8# of TAC for just under $150 last week. It was at an out of the way LGS I just happened to stop at.

It's all trickling back in. This is my first shortage as a reloader so I can't comment on past trends. It's just nice to enjoy my hobby again.

From now on ill definitely build up a better stock when times are good.

How long had that Winchester 571 been sitting there waiting for you to come along? They discontinued it years ago, and I'm rationing what I have left. When it was announced that Winchester was no longer going to make it, I called Wideners and ordered all of it they had in stock.

The 571 has been sitting around for years. They could not remember when it came in but they thought it was rifle powder.

Just got 8lbs h335, 4lbs hp38, and 2lbs varget from recobs. I put in a message saying to just cancel the order if you won't ship it all and they shipped it all. Needless to say, I was happy.

If I could find 8lbs or W571 (HS-7) I wouldn't need to find 2400...

Since there is no 2400 around I have been using HS-6 (W540) for middle to middle hot .357 Magnum loads and for the full power stuff HS-6 can't do I'm using W296. (H110)
