All I have are CCI magnum small rifle primers and Nosler brass. I’m out of Lil’Gun but I do have H110.Accurate 1680 and Alliant 300MP are also good choices for the 22 Hornet. Primer choice and charge weights (down to 0.1gr. Increments) are important to accuracy in the small Hornet case. I prefer to avoid full power loads to maximize life of the thin Hornet cases.
Why?IMO, magnum small rifle primers are a poor choice for the Hornet.
A lower power primer will upset the cartridge less and let the push come from the powder and not the primer. You observe the same principle in small primer 308 brass. Why?
I have read at least a 100 times how H110 should be used almost exclusively with magnum primers. I’ve also read the same about Lil’Gun tho not as often. True or false?A lower power primer will upset the cartridge less and let the push come from the powder and not the primer. You observe the same principle in small primer 308 brass.
I usually always start ball powders with a mag. I guess tac does better with regular.I have read at least a 100 times how H110 should be used almost exclusively with magnum primers. I’ve also read the same about Lil’Gun tho not as often. True or false?
In addition, Lil’ Gun has many magnum pistol applications and is a superb choice for reloading the 22 Hornet.
More powerful primer will push the bullet out of the case before the powder has built pressure. The result is inconsistent ignition and potential accuracy problems. Why?
First, all I have for small primers, both pistol and rifle, is CCI magnum rifle primersI have read is several places Lil'Gun has breath new life into the .22 Hornet. A shooting buddy of mine swears by it for velocity and accuracy. The Rem 6 1/2 primer is a good choice for the 22 Hornet.
Well then, you will have to use the H110 you have and the SPM primers.First, all I have for small primers, both pistol and rifle, is CCI magnum rifle primers
Second, of the 2 powders I mentioned for the 22 Hornet, H110 and Lil’Gun, I have H110 but no Lil’Gun. (I have added my email address on countless websites to be notified when Lil’Gun shows up)
