Heres my problem. I just bought a WASR 10/63 in 7.63x39, yeah I know 50% of the people I have talked to say they are crap and the other 50% love them. However, it came with 1 just one! preban 30 rnd mag. They are illeagle to ship into NY thats why the retail Herb Phil didnt have any. I know I can get them at gun shows but thoese are few and far between here so Where else could I find them???

I've never seen dates stamped on AK mags, so it would be pretty hard to prove how old (or new) they are.

As the above poster said, I've also never seen anything on AK mags to indicate date.
As for quality, the major thing about this gun is to assure the gas tube & sight are on perpendicular & true, some do have canted tubes.
If yours is on straight then good. Shoot it and see how well it runs.
I bought one back in June. It is not a pretty gun and is not intended to be. The wood on mine looks like it had a previous life as a skid in 1971. Actually it's laminate. It looks ugly. But it works; it does the job. That's what it is for.
No one goldplates a WASR or encrusts them with diamonds. They are strictly work guns. Enjoy yours, and shoot it. If someone calls it a piece of cr@p, don't worry.

All "military issue" AK mags in 7.62x39 are "pre ban".

Any 7.62x39 milsurps you see advertised as "new", have been sitting in a commie warehouse for decades - unused in their cosmo'd paper wrappings. . . .
