YES I am not kidding. Made a stop in to 3 gunshops of my favorite 4 and WOW! Every store was loaded with ALL calibers of ammo.

One store had at least 200 cases of Remington 223/1000 for $479. New Dragunov PSLs for $749.00 / Colt LE 6920s $1450

Another store had several 250 round UMC packs of 380 / $42?. NO I didn't studder!

The last store had all shelves packed with 9mm/500-$80 + 380 + 45 acp. Self defense ammo was fully stocked in all stores also.

If you have noticed this, please post for your fellow State members of THR!

I was at Cabela's picking up my HK45 last thursday and that was not the case. It was opposite actually.

at academy here in houston, they have plenty of 9mm, .380 and .45. The 2 boxes per customer limit has been lifted, instead now they have 500 rds per customer limit. plenty of 9mm for sure.
remington 100 pk, monarch, WWB, winchester NATO, etc.

It's called the eye of the storm. When you've got a few precious moments to make sure you're safe and secure before the screaming gale returns.

In the SW MO ammo shortage is worst it's been yet. Local Academy has empty shelves. NO 9mm NO .45 and of course NO .380!!

I think maybe Georgia is in good shape, as that's where the OP is, and I visited my favorite shop down here in southern GA today and they had lots of ammo.

while the flood of cheap ammo may be a slight exageration, i have noticed a slight increase of availability localy.

wednesday, i scored a box of federal lp primers. walley's also had 22, 9mm, 40, and 45 in stock. a small amount to be sure, but still a marked improvment over recent weeks.

I haven't been hit by this tidal wave of ammunition either, but I did stumble upon some fortune.

In a move which may shock many, I went and shot my guns today, on two seperate occasions, needlessly expending ammunition for my mere entertainment.

The only people I saw were leaving as I arrived. We conversed a bit, and I soon after found their pile (literally) of spent brass waiting for me on my mountain range. They had "swept" ~400 pieces of .223 brass into one pile, with smaller piles (~100 each) surrounding it.

.308, 30-06, .45 ACP, and 9mm all were represented in tidy bundles. I suppose I don't mind picking up after these people.

My cousin stopped by yesterday evening with a case (1000 rd) of .45ACP he'd just picked up, and four bricks of CCI std velocity .22 ammo. The sky isn't falling.

Cabela's was even out of 7.62 Tokarev. I mean, really, who buys the commercial stuff for that caliber? Only real commercial ammo worth getting is the Wolf hollowpoints. It's not that hard to clean corrosive out of what's basically a 1911.

I sure hope we have turned the corner on the ammo shortage but I haven't seen any sign of it in the Houston area or on the internet. Last week I was at the PSC range where membership is required and all the reloadable brass had been collected before I arrived. The range custom is if no one else wants what is lying on the ground it is free to who ever wants to pick it up. As for $479 for 1000 .223, that just motivates me to return to reloading in that caliber.

On line in 9mm Natchez has shotshells, Cheaper Than Dirt has American Eagle $21.79/50 in stock and WWB $39.79/100 out of stock. Doesn't look too promising yet.

I found 9mm for the first time in months yesterday at Walmart. They had Blazer Brass for $8.99 per box of 50, and Winchester white box bulk packs were $19.95 per box of 100. So I bought all of it they had, of course.

Not the case in East Texas. Local wally world get in 3-5 boxes of ammo per cal. at a time. They dont even put them in the case because they sell it so quickly, they just toss it in a buggy in back the counter. Academy has PLENTY of rifle and shotgun, but only 9mm is the win NATO.
