Primers Back in the Pipeline

I reload to save money, not as a hobby. I keep about 5,000 rounds of .40 s&w brass and about 2000 rounds .223 in circulation. This amount to ammo was lasting me 3 - 4 months, on average.

Since primers have become so scarce, I have really cut down on shooting! Since I only have enough primers to reload about two more batches of ammo, I'm afraid to send lead down-range until I know I can get reasonably priced components again.

Kinda been having withdrawal symptoms.

while I do not think that 50k primer order is all that usual, I do not think that there is anything wrong with it. what if the guy wants to sell some, who cares. if he wants to burn them in his back yard, he is paying for them. The guy said he was not going to scalp them. I personally ordered 35k of one particular primer the last time I ordered them and they were all for me. I still have most of them in my stash box but I do not have to order any more for awhile. the 35k was only of one primer type. that does not include the 10-15k of the other primers that I picked up at the same time.

The only concern I have with the primer sales on Gunbroker is the way they are being shipped. Many, if not most are going USPS and could wind up in the cargo hold of a plane I'm on. (I don't want to wind up as fish food before my time.)

One day a postal inspector (or the press) is going to figure this out and it will be very bad for the reloading and shooting sports industry.

My local shop got a small shipment of small pistol primers yesterday. I was able to get 2000 at $25.99 per brick, which will last me a few months.

They also had a good assortment of ammo by the case, at very reasonable prices.
