Problem with Uberti Walker

I just bought a Colt Uberti Walker from a fellow online that was sold as new/old stock, never fired. This looks to be true as it looks brand new and not a speck of dust in the barrel. However I have a hard time cocking it with one hand and many times can't as it cocks to half way and try as I might it just won't cock fully. NOW, when I use 2 hands it cocks fully except for one charge hole(?) on the cylinder. Two hands or not, it will not fully cock. Does this revolver just need "breaking in" or can it be easily fixed, or just send it back? I hate to have to send it back if it's possible to avoid. Any help much appreciated!

From your description, it definitely has a problem. The problem might be relatively easy to fix, since the internal mechanism on these colt revolvers is not very complex. It sounds like the notches in the hammer/sear need to be looked at, or there is something under the hammer (such as a smashed cap) that is jamming the works. Taking it apart to look at it would be the first step. It sounds like you might be new to percussion revolvers and if you are, you shouldn't attempt that without some guidance.

Loosen the wedge and see if it works better. There is a problem with the arbor pin on these Ubertis and the wedge can push the barrel assembly into the cylinder creating a bind.

Is it hard to cock because the bolt (cylinder stop) isn't dropping

or

Is it hard to cock because there's something wrong between the hammer and the trigger?

Try not to force it anymore and take it apart for a looksee.

Is the cylinder actually touching the barrel? It should have a slight gap there.

I've had trouble cocking mine from a couple of used caps falling into the mechanism. But If it hasn't been fired yet I dunno what could be wrong with it? Is it easy to cock with the cylinder removed?
