Well... sorta. A month ago (little more) I sent my Walker back to Benelli to have them address a poorly done grip. It was not only ill-fitting, but when being assembled at the factory... someone chipped the corner and made a repair with some epoxy and sawdust to reform it.

Just got an email notification from them that they have opted to replace the gun and will be shipping the new one to me tomorrow. I had asked them to just make a new grip for it, but, they're sending me a different gun.

Kudos to Benelli/Stoeger (Distributor for Uberti) !!

I'm glad you got their attention and that they decided to attempt to make amends. I personally believe they make good quality products and expect that you will be satisfied. However, don't count the chickens....

Thats great to hear bud that they are making it right, a little further than was expected but none the less they are making you the customer happy & that is all that matters.

Like you I would have been happy with just a replacement grip.

Pretty soon you'll be smoking up the trail with that wagon..

Proabbably faster and less costly to send you a new gun and then clean up the old one and sell it to somebody else.

I suspect my old one is going to become parts fodder for other "returns". Fine by me... hopefully the "replacement" doesn't come with cylinder drag marks on it like this one did when I bought it. :D

Where did you purchase the Walker? It had a drag mark on the cylinder plus the bad grip repair. That makes it sound like they sold you a gun that had beed returned to them. Sorta like re-gifting, only you had to pay for it :(

LOL Does almost sound like that, doesn't it? It was the last one in stock at Sportsman's Warehouse. In the end, I'm coming out ok though. :D

Yeah, I'm glad to hear that. I know that less than perfect specimens sneek out of the factory from time to time, but I don't think Uberti is to blame for this one, I suspect the retailer, I've not had any dealings with Sportsman's Warehouse but that grip repair does not look like it came from the factory to me, looks like a kitchen table job:rolleyes: I'm glad Uberti is replacing it for you.

Not exactly PC here, but I had this vision...

Giuseppe, back in repairs has this Walker brought to him.. Replace the grips they say.. Bah!! as the screw driver slips from the screw head, scrapes across the grip and gouges into the blue..

Here'sa new pistole to replace yours signor .. we are terribly sorry..

Congrats on the refurb upgrade!!

Mr. Brown truck finally arrived with my new Walker !!! Whew ! I'd forgotten how much of a pig this thing is. :D Gave it a thorough once over... LOL it's got a ding on the grip and a buggered screw head for the lever pivot point... but, I can live with 'em just fine. I can probably dress the screw head with a file and reblue it. Now THIS is a much better fitting grip... and this gun feels soooo much better in the paw. And... no drag marks on the cylinder of this one either. I'm a happy camper. Now... just need to get the 1858 Bison back home from Pietta... should be done this week is what I'm told. Here's the pix of the replacement Walker.

How about a Naked Blond for a backdrop next pics huh ?
Congrats on the new gun , shoot it's still not perfect either , Jesus Lordy can't anyone get things right besides me in this world ? :fire: I can live with it probably shouldn't realy be in your gun buying vocabulary , but thank God it aint too messed up . :D

Now go shoot it !

Jaeger

LOL Mainly... I'm just tired of NOT having the ability to go shoot it ! When it bugs me too much... I can fix this stuff fairly easily.

Well... that straw bale is pretty "period correct" to use as a back drop. Hmmmm... come to think of it... my old house IS pre-1900 too. LOL

Interesting

case hardening colors on that one side of the frame too , kinda cool :D
Most of whats comming out fo Uberti seldome see's that muchc olor . At least that part of it is better than normal , so its a wash I suppose . Looks like the grips fit reasonably well for stock . If you can get allt hat nasty olive oil out of them are you gonna try and refinish ? Or get "Jiggy With It" and make your owne three peice-one piece look out of some Zebra wood ?

Cheerios , Jaeger

Congrats on getting a good one. You'll enjoy it.

Did they have blue twine to bind bales in 1850?

Yeah... the case hardening does look nice on this one... on both sides as a matter of fact.

I dunno... the grain on these grips look nice. I'll probably leave these alone... but, don't be surprised if I show up 'round your neck of the woods some time and pester you for a lesson in grip fabrication.

The grips sure look great.

I can probably dress the screw head with a file and reblue it.

Once you fix the screw head, Mr. Walker will just pay you back with a drag mark around the cylinder or another something elsewhere! :neener:

LOL Ain't that the truth? How do folks go and put those on anyhow? Seems to me that if you're using it the way it's intended to be used... that's not an issue... but, I see a LOT of cylinders with those drag marks on 'em.

Gotta fix that screw head though... every time the gun gets wiped down it'll snag lint off the rag. NOT Zesty. :D
