Santa gave me a gift card to Midwayusa and I am considering build the 12.7x42 ar. They have the barrel with the bolt. My question is, has anyone built one of these and how does it do? I handload so ammo is not an issue. Also, I know I need the enlarged ejection port and the bolt is the 7.62x39 one if the bolt that comes with it does not perform in a standard bolt carrier. Also, standard mags might need some mods.

Anything else I am overlooking? I would build a regular AR but I have enough of them (for now).

Thanks

Only parts that aren't ar15 standard will be the barrel, bolt (uses normal bcg), gas block of the correct size as the barrel will be larger than standard, and reciever with enlarged ejection port. I'm unfamiliar with what mags work, but AA stock Bwulf specific mags that are reasonable.

I chose the .458, as it will single stack in standard ar mags, im u sure if the Bwulf will so the same.
The performance between the two cartridges will likely be similar tho the Bwulf as larger frontal dia, but lower SD, also uses pistol bullets. So in theory the Bwulf will produce a larger wound channel but not penetrate as far as the .458 when using bullets of comparable weight and velocity. I can tell you from using my Socom for the last year, the Bwulf will be one hell of a hammer. The only time i could see penetration being an issue would be shooting thru alot of heavy bone.
