BTW-In most latin countries...illegal immigrants are dealt with shall we say "harshly". They realize the situation, but its about what THEY can get out of it FROM US.
That's an excellent point.
There is nothing even remotely cruel, unusual, or even all that different from the illegal immigration laws of most democratic nations (not currently involved in widespread civil unrest, at least) in the proposed bill.
I'm not saying we actually start cutting illegal's fingers off, but we should at least have regulations and enforcement on-par with the rest of the free world.
A wide open border with promises of unsubsidized welfare sure as hell isn't going to cut it. I have four mouths to feed, and one job to pay for it. I'm not paying to feed non-citizens. Especially when they DEMAND I do so.
Also, nothing against Catholisism, but we are talking about roughly 1 million immigrants a year who are Catholic (and adhere very closely to the will of the Vatican at that) and therefore don't believe in condoms and abortion. Not issues to debate here, but the obvious hurdle this is going to present in 10 and 20 years is rampant disease and a population explosion the likes of which have not been seen since the end of WWII. It is statistically unavoidable. If they all pay taxes, the overall damage would be sustainable. If not....
