Protestors march against more secure U.S. border

So it isn't about the fact that they are breaking the law. It's all about quotas ... about how many people from some other culture you can tolerate living next door to you and your family.

Absurd. To prove that I am not a "racist" I am expected to endorse permitting an unlimited amount of immigrants, without discrimination of any kind, into my nation? I repeat, absurd. And, worse, insulting.

Also, a late-breaking headline: I am not obliged to view every culture with identical enthusiasm any more than I am obliged to view the habits of every individual with enthusiasm. Comportment is all-important; the sum of individual and group comportment equals the tenor and values of a society. It is too bad that the word "discriminate" has fallen into ill repute in some circles; without discrimination we have no identity of our own.

How many times do we have be told that the first European settlers on this Continent, well before the establishment of our nation, were not following the same immigration protocols as today? Well, of course they weren't, and so what, what is that to us in AD 2006?

I second the concept that America is for Americans and our policies should be directed to the best interests of our own citizens. I am and shall be unapologetic about defending that notion. We do not exist for the benefit of global humanitarian schemes. We are our own end. Where did this ludicrous concept come from? Well, it is one of those "fine ideas" that camouflage disingenuous motives, in this case to sell us on the idea of the importation of cheap labor. Americans are good people who don't want to be thought shallow, vicious, or "judgmental:" well, why not exploit that, why not use that naivete' against them to cover one's own greed. It seems to be working all too well.

Assimilation is what, in the end, it is all about, assuming that we are not overstressing our resources. Safeguarding our essential American values and creating new citizens who subscribe to those values is the essence of a strong and vital nation. Too many of us seem to be ashamed of insisting on assimilation; some of us, including a chunk of our "elites," seem to believe that whatever other people stand for must in fact be better. Either that changes, or our country will be changed--no, dissolved slowly but surely.

I have been expecting some form of "Intifada" for some time. I believe it's part of the grand plan. Not the core part, just a subplot that permits the uber-government to first identify and then come down hard on dissenters or what will soon be definable as the "legacy population" of Old America. You remember them, they were the people, kids, who thought that government existed by the consent of the governed. Quaint concept, huh?

Then again, maybe not....

"They simply want to eat, have shelter, provide for self and family.
This is not rocket science.

You've got it, they don't."

"<ahem>" to assist in solving the problem?:D

If it is a genuine phenomenon, of course.

Ah, FB. ;)

What up?

Perhaps nature actually produces organisms in excess of sustainable habitat?
That, indeed, is the definition of natural selection.

Definition: biological potential: the population size of a species in a condtion of unlimited resources such that every individual born lived to reproduce.

Natural selection refers to the fact that biological potential is usually not realized indefinitely for any species.

Gee, what could be more fortuitous?

"<ahem>" to assist in solving the problem?
Assertion of "fortuitous" is your alone, FB. I make no such assertion.

In my perspective, it just is what it is.

If it is a genuine phenomenon, of course.
Of course.

As I've said elsewhere, it's a testable hypothesis. Time will tell. :p

I'm willing to wait ... locked and loaded.

The government has completely sold out the people. First they said don't worry about the manufacturing jobs going to China there will be good white collar jobs.
Then they said don't worry about the white collar jobs gioing to India there will be service jobs. Now there are so many illegals that service jobs pay nothing.

I hope these so-called representatives pay for this. The govt has sold us out. It's time to clean the rifles and knot the ropes.

illegals

I really don't care who may be offended. Those people who inter AMERICA illegally are CRIMINALS. For the dimwits out there that means the CRIMINALS are breaking OUR laws. CALL ME A NATIONALIST IF YOU WISH, I REALLY DON'T CARE WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT MY COUNTRY OR IT'S LAWS.:fire: :fire: :fire:

jlseagull,

Yes. You got it exactly. Does your mommy ever tell you what a bright star you are?

This was a very rude and condescending response which was not warrented by my question, I suggest you mind your manners.

Back to original topic, I disagree with your idea that we dont have a right to decide who comes in our country. If a people cannot decide who comes in their country then it really isnt theirs. The Swiss will escort you out of their country if you are there illegally, and the funny thing is that their country doesnt resemble Chinese totalitarianism.

Nope.

No one has a basic human right to steal from other people.

Not Americans. And not Mexicans either.

The solution to thievery isn't draconian laws against thieves of a certain skin color and racial heritage.

The solution is to dismantle the welfare state.

pax
Until the welfare state is dismantled and the Ayn Randian Utopian Plan for America is achieved, I'll push for measures I hope will alleviate the hemorrhage of my tax dollars into such programs. One such measure is restricting those who enter the United States of America to those who we, the citizens of the USA, decide to let in.

pax said:
What would you say to simply abolishing most immigration laws, making it much easier for new immigrants to enter America?
In case anybody has forgotten, the USA is a soverereign state. We, not the rest of the world, get to chose who enters our country. If the only immigration we want is blind, left-handed, lesbian, dentists from Croatia, that is our business.

If anybody has any question over just what sovereign & sovereignty mean, meet Merriam & Webster:

Sovereignty

Main Entry: sov·er·eign·ty
Variant(s): also sov·ran·ty /-tE/
Function: noun

Etymology: Middle English soverainte, from Middle French soveraineté, from Old French, from soverain
1 obsolete : supreme excellence or an example of it
2 a : supreme power especially over a body politic b : freedom from external control : AUTONOMY c : controlling influence
3 : one that is sovereign; especially : an autonomous state

Sovereign
Main Entry: 1sov·er·eign
Variant(s): also sov·ran /'sä-v(&-)r&n, -v&rn also 's&-/

Project much?

It would be much more true to write, "It's all about...how many people from some other culture can be assimilated into our culture more quickly than they can form sub-cultural enclaves. Not all cultures are equal or compatible with other cultures.

Let Ayn Rand's work collect some dust & pick up some Thomas Sowell for some insight into the effects of mass migrations, how they are accomplished, and what the destination countries have done about it.

Because people have a basic human right to enter into private contracts without interference from any meddlesome government.
-pax

so does that mean employers can, as a basic human right, hire hitman into a private contract, with the intent of eliminating competition? or that drug dealers should be able to deal their wares with impunity? that's a private contract as well. what about a go-getter that wants to make a living selling runaway american children into the sex trade in a big city?...private contract there too.

the ridiculousness of the analogies matches the incompleteness of your post. these sorts of private contracts are unnacceptable because the basis for them includes activities that the american people have collectively decided are wrong and hence illegal. americans have also seen fit to set boundaries on the influx of foreigners, and as a result, it is illegal to enter the country in any way that is not prescribed by those immigration laws. the private contract between a business and illegal alien is worth nothing, given that activity deemed illegal is at the very foundation of that contract.

our elected officials, by and large, have no regard for any established law that does not fit into whatever schemes they have in the works. it's no surprise that many americans seem to think that our laws are so disposable....look at our "leaders".

I have a question..... How do the Mexicans feel about Immigrants pouring into their borders form Guatemala, Belize, & Honduras?? I really would like an honest answer from Jammer, Headless Thompson, & Seagull..

Thanks!!

I don't feel I'm qualified to speak for any Mexicans regarding immigration from South America, as I don't live in Mexico, let alone near it's southern border.

I think anyone who tries to answer your question who is not from the area will be pulling an answer out of their butt to support their existing viewpoint.

*edit* See Biker's post above for just such an ass-pull.

Los Angeles, Alta California - March 26, 2006 - (ACN) Yesterday's march and rally for immigrant rights in downtown Los Angeles is the largest in the city's history. Never has the "City of Angels" seen so many demonstrators filling the streets of the city's center. The sleeping giant has finally awaken giving rise to a new immigrant civil rights movement of unprecedented proportions.

The leadership of the various participating groups demonstrated extraordinary organizational skills. Much credit goes to the over 700,000 marchers, that included entire families, for their superb orderly behavior. There was not one act of violence even though the vile "Minutemen Vigilantes" had made threats against "La Gran Marcha" on their websites.

The size of the pro-immigrant march and rally surprised the world and the nation. A spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department made a statement on Thursday, to the local media, that they expected between 10,000 to 15,000 to participate in the march. What a surprise they received on Saturday! The LAPD is now reporting that over 500,000 participated but the true number is actually over 700,000. AnswerLA.org, an organization with a lot of experience in organizing mass marches and rallies, estimate that over 1 million participated. The Aztlan Research Institute, however, utilizing sophisticated crowd counting methodologies, estimates a figure of over 700,000.

I'm not sure how estimates range from 10,000 to 1,000,000. The numbers only describe with the severity of the problem.

Seventeen year old Anabel Chavarria reflects the exuberance felt by the marchers
What does the immense success of "La Gran Marcha" mean to Mexicanos and other Latinos? It simply means that we now have the numbers, the political will and the organizational skills to direct our own destinies and not be subservient to the White and Jewish power structures. It means that we can now undertake bigger and more significant mass actions to achieve total political and economic liberation like that being proposed by Juan José Gutiérrez, President of Movimiento Latino USA. Juan José Gutiérrez is proposing that the coalition that organized "La Gran Marcha" meet in Arizona or Texas on April 8 to "organize a mass boycott (huelga) against the economy of the USA" to take place on May 5 or 19.

For people that keep calling me anti-Mexican and anti-Catholic, that sounds awfully anti-Jew and anti-White.

A major reason for the great success of "La Gran Marcha" was the strong participation of labor unions and the Catholic Church. This same alliance contributed to the success of Lech Walesa's "Solidarity Movement" in the Republic of Poland. This can be done in Aztlan as well. If the racist "Sensenbrenner Legislation" passes the US Senate, there is no doubt that a massive civil disobedience movement will emerge. Eventually labor union power can merge with the immigrant civil rights and "Immigrant Sanctuary" movements to enable us to either form a new political party or to do heavy duty reforming of the existing Democratic Party. The next and final steps would follow and that is to elect our own governors of all the states within Aztlan.

If your 'civil disobedience movement' even looks at me wrong, I will pacify you myself by what ever means are convenient at the time.

Thousands of students walkout of LAUSD high schools on Friday March 24.
The great success of "La Gran Marcha" also means that the time has come to organize and politicize our great number of youths that are just festering in many of our school districts. The walkouts in Los Angeles of thousands of Mexican and Latino students from Huntington Park, South Gate, Southeast, Jordan, Montebello, Garfield and Roosevelt High Schools on Friday, one day before "La Gran Marcha", only shows that they are now ready to be mobilized and advised on how they can improve their educations.

Mobilized? To do what? This des not sound like immigration, but an invasion. Let me be the first to ask: "If a citizen from another country invades our country and does us harm, does that not constitute an act of war?"

Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villagairosa, a Los Angeles Unified School District victim himself before he turned his life around, is already undertaking a bold moved to wrestle control of the district from a Jewish dominated school board and a White superintendent that are just fleecing the schools of much needed funds.

There's that race card again. It's a good thing for those Jews and Whites that they are here LEGALLY!

School board Jews like Julie Korenstein, Marlene Canter, David Tokofsky, Jon Lauritzen and Mike Lansing are just enriching themselves and their cronies through crooked deals involving school construction projects, and contracts with so called consultants and vendors.

School board Jews? How much more of a race/religion issue can THEY make this?

The LAUSD is the second largest in the nation, next to New York, with a multi-billion dollar annual budget. It has an overwhelming Mexican and Latino student population. Jews have their own private schools so why are 5 Jews out of 7 school board members interested in governing the school district? The answer is all too obvious. La Voz de Aztlan has interviewed LAUSD teachers that complained that they have to buy, with their own money, pencils, paper and other school supplies that the district should provide. Something has to be done and Mayor Villaraigosa is on the right track

They wouldn't have to payout of pocket for supplies if the budget were used on the 600,000 legal students and not adding facilities, desks, and Spanish language classes for the other 500,000 that snuck accross or were born after mommy and/or daddy entered illegally.

We thank the many marchers for the sacrifice they made on Saturday. Many came from as far as San Diego and San Francisco. They came in on buses, trains, trucks, RV's , motorcycles and autos. Some came the night before and slept in their vehicles. Entire families arrived from Fresno, San Jose and Coachella. One family of eight included a grandmother, father, mother, daughters, and sons. One section in the march consisted of at least 20 on wheel chairs. They all came to Los Angeles and made history. This great city will never be the same!

I thank the marchers too, at least now I know how much ammo to order.

you say that like it's a bad thing. i'll say it too...unabashedly....i am a nationalist through and through, and even more importantly than that, a constitutionalist. these elected officials and their bloated juggernaut of a federal government are standing on the shoulders of giants.....and the most disturbing thing is that we put them there....and keep putting them there. i want to be able to look at politicians alone and lay all of the blame for this mess on them, but i really can't. these people are a reflection of the american public. who in the world puts a guy like kennedy in office...ever?....answer: a majority of the people...and they do it over and over and over again. we are in a jam because the majority of american people are confused. many of the individuals on this site represent a portion of what is a dwindling segment of our population......people who unselfishly value the constitution and the principles that brought it into being....who revere it not for where it can get them, but for what it is. people who wisely look to the past for answers and lessons, instead of allowing themselves to wholly succomb to the fleeting material fancies that most americans presently immerse themselves in.

it's over. it might take years still, but the bell has been rung. in all sincerity, this system of government will not afford us the opportunity make things right. the only option is to start over, and i just don't see enough americans having the backbone and devotion to our land to step forward collectively, and demand radical change....force radical change. i know a lot of people desire to force the government to be held accountable for this and so many other deceits and disasters, but no man is an island. where do we go from here?

Seagull...

I have a couple of pen-pals who live in Mexico, so I got my info from the horse's mouth, so to speak. Aside form that, the info is readily available on the net.
Now, don't you think that it's time to put the juvenile BS you've been spouting on the shelf?
Personal insults don't do much for your argument.
Biker

For people that keep calling me anti-Mexican and anti-Catholic, that sounds awfully anti-Jew and anti-White.

Ah, but you see, being Anti-Mexican and Anti-Catholic is bad, while being Antisemitic and Anti-White is perfectly okay, in fact required. Does anyone else notice how much of the rubbish the illegals spout is straight out of the leftist catechism? Makes you wonder.

Throughout history they have been occasions when myopic mobs started things they could never envision. It is the rule of unintended consequences. Methinks the illegals and their sympathizers started something they cannot finish and whose results they would not like in the long run no matter how the situation develops.

Now, don't you think that it's time to put the juvenile BS you've been spouting on the shelf?

The rule of least resistance. Why present a logical substantiated argument when you can just attack your opponent's credibility with cute statements? Does this technique remind you of the toolkit of a particular political philosophy?

I'm somewhat removed from the issue (being in Philadelphia), so I don't have much first-hand experience with the issue of illegal immigration from Mexico.

Jumping in late here, but I just wanted to ask a question:

1. What, if anything, is being done to improve conditions in Mexico? If half a million people can rally in LA, I would expect there to be an even greater effort by Mexicans to improve (or even revolutionize) the country of Mexico. Does this "movement" exist?

Great point, Philly. It appears that the only "movement" occuring in Mex is one that involves sending a million or more 'undesireables' north every year so they can move 15 billion American dollars south every year.
Very smart on Vincent's part of the deal.
Biker

What I personally don't get is all the people running around in the street with Mexican flags.

What are they saying? I thought they "wanted to be Americans"? Wrong flag. If that's their allegiance, why don't they go back....?

That "legal/illegal" dichotomy is just a smokescreen for people who don't want any kind of immigrants, period.

I can only speak for myself, but I *am* an immigrant. I am still a 'non-permanent alien' after may years, and many thousands of dollars spent, and because paperwork has been dragged by the .gov SO long will be losing all I have done so far, and have to restart (long ugly story).

But now, Illegals get (I love this part) a FASTER, more convenient path to permanent residency and citizenship than I, a legal, educated, taxpaying professional has.

This isn't about racism, or really even immigration. It's about "doing things right"(tm). Something that seems to be getting less and less important as time goes on.

So if the senate bill passed, I will have to cancel my paperwork ASAP, so I can become illegal in time to do this, becuase it is faster and easier than doing it the legal way. Yea, good lesson to learn.

Uh-oh. I am fear-stricken! Please somebody pass me a fresh diaper. :neener:

What will we do if we do not have as many hair-dressers, janitors, pedicurists, gardeners, housekeeprs, and porters? My, we might actually have to get off our butts and clean our own houses and mow the garden? The horror.

Food for thought: How does a welfare leech go on strike? Refuse to cash the gov checks?

More food for thought: People pay gym memberships, buy dietary drugs, buy exercise equipment, hire therapists and shrinks, get plastic surgeries, and eventually bypass surgeries, but also insist their house and yard work be done by illegals? What better, cheaper exercise than doing your household chores yourself?

It appears our Congress is very impressed by "mobs." That the mob is comprised of people who have no legal right to be in the U.S., let alone assemble, peaceably or no, doesn't matter. When the rule of mob is embraced, all manner of bad things may result.

What I focus on today is this: We all know the margin of the last election and we know its importance (regardless of how, alas, it has played out). The proposals from Congress that I am seeing will give de facto control to an organized Latino minority over our political structure and future--within six years. In six years three hundred million Americans could be held hostage politically by a comparatively small group of highly organized political groups with a very focused agenda. We are going to give the power of the ballot away that easily, because someone came across our border illegally and then held a job? This goes beyond insanity to deliberate suicide. Or perhaps, more correctly, I should call it political murder, because I would not scruple to say that the people at the top have the clear intent to murder the American middle-class and our Constitution. People, wake up!
