PRVI Partizan soft tip ammo is made in Serbia and is commonly sold at discounted pricing. I bought a box of 30-30 150 grain ammo recently at a gun show try out. I was disappointed with the accuracy results at 100 yards. Best 3 shot group was 3 inches and worst was 4 inches. In contrast, Winchester Power Point ammo cuts these groups sizes in half. Yes, it's accurate enough to kill a deer at typical woods distances but doesn't produce the level of accuracy that I accustomed to. My advise is to spend a little more for the "good stuff."

Yeah, I probably wouldn't use it for hunting. I do pick up some from time to time as a source of decent brass for reloading. I plink with it and then load them up.

I agree the PRIVI brass is good to reload with. I have never tried any PRIVI 30-30 ammo in my rifles. FWIW in my reloads the 170 grain bullets from Hornaday and the RP Core-Lokt tend to give me smaller groups than the 150 grain size in all my 30-30 rifles.

I doubt PPU soft points will expand. I've seen their hollow point pistol ammo tested and it never expands, so I have extreme doubt about their rifle ammo.

I think PPU is strictly target ammo and nothing else.

I shoot lots of PPU ammunition in 7x57, 9x18, and some in 7.62x54R. I know that the 139 gr SP in 7x57 will expand when hitting milk jugs full of water. The 9x18 don't. I don't know if the 7.62x54R will as I've never tried them against any medium where the bullets were recoverable. I'd be surprised if their 30-30 bullets don't expand as expected.

My experience with PRVI ammo was in handguns. I found that it was accurate enough but was loaded very lightly.

Making a blanket statement to avoid ammo because it wasn't particularly accurate in your one rifle? That same ammo might be the most accurate load in another rifle, which could shoot the Winchester Power Points like a shotgun pattern. My experience with PPU in several calibers has been mostly positive. Running it over a chronograph would give you an idea of ES and SD which would tell you a lot more about the quality of the ammo than a one gun sample accuracy test.

I have never had a bad experience with their ammo. I haven't used it much in rifle but in pistol ammo I have been very pleased and the resulting brass seems to be good quality.

I've used PPU (Privi Partizan) ammunition in 6.5x55, .303 British and .32 ACP. It always works well for me.

That your rifle works better with another brand of ammunition is not surprising. Different brands of ammo are similar to reloading as one brand will out perform another in nearly any given rifle. You may find someone who's .30-30 'likes' PPU; don't be surprised.

To then 'think' the rounds won't expand is a bit much. Their tendency to group (or not) in your rifle have nothing to do with expansion. I'm sure the PPU brand will kill a deer if applied correctly.

However, you are a big kid and can make your own choices. Good luck in your hunting and all else.
