I'm thinking about buying another PTR-91. I already have the carbine w/ the A3 stock, and now I'm leaning towards the full size w/ a folding stock. Anyone have experience with the folding stocks on the PTR. Are they sturdy? Will I be able to get good consistent cheek to stock?

Thanks in advanced.

Hello

Para,
I think side folders on any HK besides a UMP and MP5-K are uncommon.
You don't see many home gun pics with side folders.

Right now I have an AR style slider on my G3. I have seriously thought about the side folder. Here's why I never bought one. I had a friend who had the G36 conversion done on his SL-8. Post conversion the length of the side folder was so long, We couldn't comfortably shoulder the rifle.
Good luck, let us know what you decide. And please post some pics with the side folder.

PS. Here's a site with the lowest priced folders I have seen blackthorneproducts.com

You can't really get that done on ANY G3 style rifle without something like the Magpul PRS. Even the standard stock isn't high enough for a decent cheek weld.

Choate makes the side folder that goes on the PTR91. You can get a good cheek weld for the iron sights. You can also get a good cheek position if your cheek resides just behind the "hump" on the standard fixed stock.

If you desire a scope, I agree with Texas Rifleman, the PRS from Magpul is a good choice.
