Been meaning to put a sling on my Beeman R7 for 10 years.
Just never got a Round Tuit.
And I couldn't figure out a good way to do it with the in-line cocking linkage taking up the inside of the stock where the swivel stud nut needs to go.

So yesterday, I cut off a chunk of old .22 rifle barrel and bored it .588" for a tight slip fit on the barrel.

Made a sling swivel stud out of a 3/8" bolt this morning.
Drilled the barrel band & Silver soldered the stud to the barrel band, and blued it with Brownells Oxpho Blue. (Three times!)

I installed the barrel band with red Lock-Tight this evening.

Then drilled the butt stock for the wood screw stud.
(Screwed in with a liberal dose of Tru-Oil to: 1. Lube the threads while screwing it in. 2. Seal and lock it in place when it dries.)

Finished, with a Rusty Herrick Horse-hide Quick-Sling.

Looks like its gonna work out real nice!!

That's really nice. With the sling attachment right up against the block, it's not likely to have enough leverage to break the barrel open or affect accuracy.

That was the plan anyway!!

This R7 lock is tight enough I don't think it could break it open if you repelled off the sling that close to the hinge!!

It remains to be seen if it affects POI when used as a Hasty Shooting sling??
It probably will a little?
But that wasn't what I put it on for.

I just wanted a safe & solid carry sling.

While I don't think it will hurt accuracy, I'm pretty certain it will change the POI given that it's altering the recoil characteristics of the airgun. Since most of that recoil is due to the motion of the spring piston and happens before the pellet even starts moving, anything that changes/restrains the recoil will definitely affect POI.

Once you get the sights adjusted it should be fine. But I don't think you'll be able to switch back and forth between shooting with and without using the sling without changing the POI.

Re-zeroed it today.
Not!

Still shooting three-shot touching holes in the same place at 20 yards.

So when you sling up, it shoots to exactly the same point of aim as when the sling is just hanging loosely? That's not what I would have expected at all...

I haven't shot it with a tight sling yet.

It's been a four day ice & rain storm here since Thanksgiving afternoon.
Nearly 4.5" rain.

I shot it out of the garage door into a bullet trap in the front yard off a step ladder leaning rest to check the zero today is all I got done so far.

Feel like a duck right now after four days of ice & rain.

Quack Quack!!
