[Q] statistics on defenders emptying handgun before getting shot?

Are there any statistics on civilian (resp. non-LE) defenders emptying their handguns before getting shot (dead)?
 
Sorry, can't follow your logic. If a someone is shot and their handgun is empty they'd count as "one". Accumulate them, and they make up a statistic.

Sorry, again, I probably misunderstood you.
 
He meant that there's really no way to make a distinction on if they used every round, then got shot, versus getting shot and then using the last of their rounds.
And to my knowledge, there's no database of the like. You'd have to dig through individual police reports, which may or may not specify "Mr. X fired Y rounds."
