My wife is up for renewal for her concealed carry license. She never carries. I mean never (she carried my weapon for me one time when I needed her to, once). But she said she likes the idea of being able. She tested 3 years ago with my old Bersa 380. Since then I bought her a Glock 26 4Gen that she liked the feel of and could rack.
Well she can't rack the Glock any longer. Don't go there on technique, etc.
I did some searching and we did some testing. In one of my LGSs she could rack a Taurus 92, but it was big. We are in Houston for the Christmas and I took her to Gander Mountain. After the long wait, she got to handle the Beretta 92FS and did not like it. I took her to the other end of the size spectrum and got her to try out the Sig P238. She easily racked it and liked the feel of the gun. I had her try out the 9mm version, the P938, but she did rack it as easily. Bummer.
We have tried out a few others, but the Sig P238 won out. I ordered her one with the rosewood grips and the inexpensive sig laser sight.
Really had hoped I could have got her the 9mm for ammo's sake, but I am hearing the shooting experience for the .380 version is pretty nice.

Good luck. Hope she likes it. I read all the 380 ammo reviews, and YouTube videos. My LCP doesn't like golden sabers. I settled on hydrashok 380 round for my defensive round in the gun.

Decent and consistent expansion and penetration for a 380. And, it actually has less recoil than the FMJ target rounds.

I have tried every type of = round I can find in my LCP and never an issue, not that anyone would want to shoot that snappy plastic pistol too much. I carry Remington Golden Saber.
I might end up reloading .380. I reload 9mm, .45 acp and .38/.357. Just was avoiding adding .380 to the lineup as I did not shoot it enough. But if the wife ends up liking shoot the Sig, well I want to be able to feed it during these slow ammo days.

My wife hated the first gen LCP, so I bought her a Kahr CM9 - she said she liked my PM9. But, the Kahr was stolen from her car. She admitted to not always carrying it because it weighed her purse down too much.

So, I let her fire my newer LCP (2nd gen) and she really liked the new trigger that Ruger changed to on the LCP.

Let her decide, or she won't carry it......and it will get stolen from your car! ;)

My wife said the SIG 938 was harder to rack. I wasn't going to challenge that assertion. If she likes the SIG then it will be money well spent. If not then another one for my collection. Of course she liked the G26 - as long as I rack it.

The 238 should be fine. The 938 probably has a significant recoil impulse. If hand strength is a problem, its better your wife has a gun she can shoot and will shoot.
