Question about carrying...in the bathroom?

Ok guys I have a question for everybody and I can't seem to find an answer to "what do you do with your gun in the bathroom" the reason I ask is because I was at a public place today like I dunno the mall for instance and I was carrying my sig p238 owb and I went to the bathroom and it tried to fall out of the holster when I undid my belt so I ask y'all what do you do

If you're sitting, put it on the lap. At no time do I let it out of my control. I've heard too many stories about them being left in the bathroom.

I carry a Kahr PM9 in a Galco Stow-N-Go

I can unclip it holster and all, and put it completely inside my front pocket until it goes back in/on my belt.

Also handy for entering restricted places such as the post office or court house. I park, discretely place it in a locked container in the car, and when I'm done discretely put it back on.

Question about carrying .......in the bathroom ?

Have heard a story or two about a holstered gun on the floor of dropped trousers being grabbed from underneath the adjacent stall. Tell me, how fast could you give chase with your pants around your ankles?

In preparing to do "#2," before sitting, remove from holster and carefully place it in your underwear, keeping pants no lower than just above the knee.

You can't forget it there, you maintain total control, it can't fall into the toilet and any germs that get on it will be your own.

I've managed to never have to use the facilities while carrying and hope my streak continues! Hahaha,

That said, I've heard that placing the gun in your pocket, on the back of the toilet, or (if one is present) placing it in a receptical on the stall door is the way to go. Just don't forget it there!

I don't much care for drawing the gun from the holster if I don't have to. Just another opportunity for something to go wrong. (A gun in a holster is a SAFE gun. A gun in someone's hand can get into all sorts of mischief.)

I find that the easiest approach is to support the gun with my strong hand until seated, and then rotate the holster clockwise around my leg and fold the belt and pants inward to let it rest in the crotch of my drawers. Wow, that was complicated to say. Easy to do, though.

Depends on the bathroom. I like using bathroom with larger toilet paper holders, because on top is where I place my firearm. I typically carry full size or compact firearms so they tend to flop (still in holster) around my belt when I sit down. If there is no large, convenient place to put it, I put it in the spot between my ankles on the inside of my jeans. I have never left my firearm in a bathroom, never even got to re doing my belt without my firearm. One of the *benefits* of carrying full sized is you know when the weight isn't there and it should be.

I pocket carry wearing Dickies coveralls a lot.

When pulling down the coveralls most everything in the pockets tries to fall out.

There is usually a flat surface, top of the toilet paper holder for example. I put everything, gun, wallet, on this flat surface.

I do the same thing if the gun is in a belt holster.

David E's right on. Stick it in your underwear, and keep your britches partway up. It's very difficult even for someone as occasionally absent of mind as myself to forget it there.

Do your business while you are still at home. If I am facing the porcelain pot it is still on my belt. If your outdoors hunting and you have to go, just put it on the log you are using right next to your strong side hand. I've had two does walk right by me no more than 10 feet away while doing my business over a log. (LOL) No I do not get a shot off. (LOL) I don't know who was more surprised, them or me.

When all else fails, just lock it up in your car.

When weather permits a jacket, I wear a shoulder holster. other times I wear an ankle holter with loose fitting jeans. If you don't want to change your carrying technique and use a OWB holster, be sure to keep it clipped over your pants and belt as opposed to just your belt. This way its still secure when you undo your belt, then like others have said, place it in your pants and keep your pants no lower than your knees. On the coveralls note... I cant carry at work and wear coveralls 90% of the time, I roll mine down starting at the collar, over the chest pockets, then over the front and back pockets, then lower my pants. Is this an odd subject to make my first post? haha.

I have set it down on the back of the toilet or on the toilet-paper dispenser, if it's large enough.
Usually, I hold it on the holster once the belt's unfastened, then fold it under into the pants to hide it until they come back up.

At home, the toilet faces the tub without much room to spare. (~1930 house, so tiny bathroom.) The pistol sits on the edge of the tub, almost touching my knee. It is not on the lap; reading material goes there.

I work at a federal facility and cannot legally carry a firearm there, so that one's easy. My folder (which is not legally a weapon) is clipped in my pocket as it always is. Depending on what I'm doing on the job, there may or may not be a significantly larger fixed bladed knife strapped to my belt or stuck in the holster pocket of the work pants that I wear there. I suppose that someone could reach under the divider but they'd have to know what they're going for to get it, and while I've never had someone reach under a stall divider so far, I'd imagine that my response would be an appropriate stomp and some strong language.

I don't normally poop anywhere else. If I have to, I figure things out based on the situation. It hasn't been an issue to date.

This is a somewhat amusing discussion, but I suppose that it bears discussing. I'd never really thought about it before now. Thank you for that.

I will never set it down in a public area, such as a bathroom. FAR too many stores if people leaving pistols on the toilet tank, or wherever. Just too much risk of forgetting it for some reason or another, even if the chances are remote. I leave it in the IWB/OWB holster that it it's in, on my belt, where it goes.

I may close the belt on it's largest setting so that a little outward leg/knee pressure keeps the weight of the gun from pulling everything all the way to the ground, if I don't want it so plainly visible (and maybe even reachable!) to people on the other side of the stall door.

Taking the last stall at the end where your strong side (or whatever side the pistol is on) is against the wall helps

I much prefer to not get caught out and need to sit, so it's usually not an issue. Leaving your trousers at your thighs and placing the gun on the reformed lap is the best practice if you have to sit in a public facility.

I typically have a small handbag at the mall; I just keep it on in the bathroom.

When not carrying in a purse, I take off the IWB holster and pistol together and place them inside my pants on the floor. Hard to forget your gun when you pull up your pants and the gun and holster slide down the pant leg!

First, pick a holster that won't allow your gun to fall out when you're using the facilities. Then, plan your poop... I wear my gun on my right side, and I try to pick the stall that will place my pistol-side toward the wall (furthest right when looking out) so that it is more out of sight and out of reach from other people using the facilities. I also try to carefully pick my public restrooms (I like to avoid them to begin with, and certainly prefer less used and less crowded facilities -- for more reasons than just the CCW issues). But, under ordinary circumstances I don't think it's a great idea to draw and/or fumble with your gun while trying to use the restroom.

When I'm wearing duty gear at work I'll only use a restroom for a "number 2" if it is a place with an entirely private restroom (a one-stall place with a locking door, for instance), or if it is at my station. That equipment requires me to remove my duty belt, and I don't want to quite literally get caught with my pants down if something should happen while I'm working.

I avoid urinals whenever possible.

If I have no choice, I use my strong side elbow to pin my gun against my side. (I, however, own a holster which doesn't allow my gun to fall out willy nilly.)
